An excellent "British" comic, with writing to die for. It may be drawn in black and white, but the care that goes into each frame is evident. The characters and settings may seem everyday, even mundane, but behind it all is a wierdness that evokes the "Prisoner" series from the sixties, and the X-files from the nineties, with references to masonic ceremonies, shamanism, UFOs, and much more besides. Essentially, it is a story about a chap who is looking to head off to the West Country for a few days, and ends up finding he cannot leave (quite literally). A friend lent me this book and I read it on the plane, and firstly let me state that I am not a salesman. I was quite suprised as I felt that this book was useful for anyone not just a salesperson as it contains with tips on how to approach life in a sucessful manner. For example there was a chapter on meetings and the question is posed how do you plan for a meeting and the individual replies, I think of all the things that could go wrong. This book however states you should visualise the meeting in a positive way concentrating on the success through considering how it will feel for everyone if it is successful and why? This is a fantastic book, that is easy to use and understand and also has a variety of different practice questions, this is perfect if you are doing a secreterial IT diploma or similar, as it teaches you all about how to write a good business letter, in terms of format etc. Overall this was a fantastic book and well worth the money.

I bought this along with O'Reilly's "Asterisk - The Future of Telephony", hoping to use the Dummies book as a quick introduction, and the O'Reilly one as a reference for more advanced topics - big mistake!
Whilst what you'd expect to find is more or less in the book, there are too few details on the Hardware Configuration to get going (e.g. minimum information of setting up analogue ports - no info on configuring IP-Phones). I also find that the Dialplan section is quite confusing and other this there is no mention, let alone explanations, of Asterisk programming (AGI, etc) at all. It was approximately a year ago when I bought this book and was thus amazed when i stubled upon this review to see that no one had written a review about it, and thus not received the acclaim that it rightly deserves. Once again John and Anne Spencer have written a most thought provoking and well reserched follow up to Volume 1. Once again, Volume 2 provides a wealth of information on all things that go "bump in the night", but what makes this, as well as Volume 1 special is that they report on the incidents very matter of factly.
