Unfortunately, despite the thickness of this book, there is no real, concrete and practical information to help the user write good reports or letters and no help with information technology. No examples whatsoever of well written letters and reports. It is mostly made up of small paragraphs giving very scanty and superficial advice. Did not help me at all with my prepartion for an exam and for the price, I do feel it was money thrown 'down the drain'. May be authors could have another go ?

Fowler has done his work thoroughly. From my own point of view,Fowler could have included the social consequences of having, "upper" and "the rest" rankings, and thier non inter-reaction, during WW1, and the causes and results of this. Why have so many Officers survived, to longlevity, in proportional relationship to 'the rest'.I venture to suggest, Fowler could quite reasonably have included this important socialinformation. The same "Senior army officers" cadre, as the hopeless "duffers"of WW1,Number One Board, are still around.Culled from the playing fields of Eton,Winchester and Harrow.Only selected because of their so called upbringing-whatever that means,in this modern world.Fowler would do ... This book is divided into two parts: The first part is 'Richter in his own words'- a semi autobiographical account/collection of anecdotes, narrated by himself, from his fascinating life and career, ranging from his interactions with Prokofieff to playing in Stalin's funeral. It is not incredibly thorough as are traditional biographies, yet it does give the reader an impression of Richter's immense and bizarre personality. The second part comprises Richter's own notebooks which he kept for the last ten or so years of his life. These contain his own reviews of concerts and records, including himself as well as many other artists. The reviews vary from high praise (Carlos Kleiber's Wagner is kept at the 'boiling point'), to almost harsh criticisms, ... Read More:

...but theres a HUGE section talking about Andrea's competency hearing, which for me was quite boring as its used alot of 'lawyer terms' and seemed to repeat the same thing over and over again. Surely it would have been better to describe in detail her actual trial? Instead, there is nothing about the trial in there at all, it doesn't even give you the verdict! I get the impression that this book was rushed out in the wake of the tragedy, if it had been left a bit longer, and included all the information it would have been excellent.
Those poor little babies though - such a tragedy, bless the five little angels. In my opinion Andrea Yates was failed by alot of people, including her husband.
I enjoy working from this book as its the same book I use a college. Its packed full of tasks to type out. Examples of letters , memos and exam preparations are all in this book. It helps a lot for study too. Definately worth getting . If I pass my exams using this book . Im getting level 2 in this book for more advanced work. Comes witha cd as well which is what you work from. Good also for people who use a pc at work and regularly type out letters.

Another lovely book by L S. I`m really enjoying her books at the moment and this one is definitely worth reading. Her stories are always a little different and based on real life dilemas. I loved the characters and I loved the ending. Looking forward to the next book by this author.
