This book is perfect for anyone interested in genetics and the origin of humans. It explains all terminolgy simply then expands upon it thus even if you have little or no knowledge of genetics or biology you can read and enjoy it.
The book while concentrating on the scientific information gathered by the project also explores the personnal discoveries individuals have made by entering the project and the subsequent DNA analysis, making it far more interesting a text than ones which consist of only science.
The author's enthusiasm for the project leaps off the page. I read this book in 24 hours and absolutely couldn't put it down. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Despite comments from others (not all of us are marine biologists!) I thought this was a cracking read, the story was intriguing, the characters believable without stereotype heroes and the dialogue was fluid. In short a wonderful piece of 'fiction'.
My only criticism was the length, perhaps 200 pages less.

This a wickedly funny and informative book. I didn't know some of the films/tv programmes referred to but the background briefing boxes for each were very helpful and Spencer's honesty and wit brought every meeting and situation alive. The quality of the writing ranks alongside Tony Hawks and Stuart Macconie's recent offerings and apart from the humour and fun there was also a soft sentimental sub plot with Spencer providing an honest insight into the private emotions which the trip stirred. Excellent read.

I was drawn to this book because it looked light and simple, and the idea of taking one minute for myself seemed to be manageable even with my crazy schedule. Well, this book delivered a lot more than what I expected! It introduced to me the possibility of having a great life when I actually stop, look, and listen to myself; By simply asking "is there a better way to take care of myself right now?" I was often amazed that there actually were lots of choices! I didn't have to repeat whatever I mechanically did in the past that did not work for me (this seems obvious but I am amazed how often it happened unawaredly.) Cool stuff!

This is a truly wonderful insight into perhaps the most influential British politician of all time. I found the juxtaposition of the child like pet names Winston and Clementine had for each other, often expressed at times of national and global emergency, and the forthright classical Churchilllian dogma fascinating. It will not explain the complexity of this statesman, but it will mek him (and her) more accesible.

I purchased `Rupert' as a piece of furniture: for its cover not its content. Though I read many histories and biographies, I was not interested in the subject. Having positioned it proudly on my coffee table, I presumed my relationship with the book was over. It was by chance that I opened its cover to the first page; it was by contrivance of this author of enormous skill that I did not close it until I had reached the last.
Charles Spencer is a marvellous writer of history. His clearly painstaking research is worn lightly as he walks the reader through his subject like an experienced guide leading a tour group through the Louvre. He combs out all the distractions, easing the reader's journey and adding lustre to his naturally lucid and ... Read More:

I read the One Minute Manager series when they started 20 years ago, and didn't like the format because I couldn't relate to a Manager who was instantly available & accessible. I was accustomed to having to wait hours, and more typically days, to speak to my manager – by which time the matter had either gone away or I'd sorted it myself anyway.
Then when I was in my 40's I found myself in the position that I could be a One-Minute Manager myself, and worklife became fun. So now I find myself re-reading the One-Minute Manager series with a new perspective on worklife.
Now, why did they write this one on "Apology" – did the concept begin before or after the latest round of scandals in US business? Either way, it is trying to set ... Read More:

I found this book to be both informative and entertaining. It is a small book but gets right to the point of how to fix your memory. Good chapters on medications, supplements and memory tips. Good humor throughout the book. Highly recommend. This book changed my life.

This easy to read book opens the door on a concept of people management hitherto unknown in the table-thumping boardrooms of Smallbusinessville. In not much more than 100 pages, Ken Blanchard shows us that getting the best out of our fellow team members is not about 'showing them who's boss', but has more to do with a system of reward and recognition designed to set goals and help people achieve those goals.
A word of warning! Reading this book may seriously change your attitudes to people management. I have already found its contents to be of real and practical help here in my own professional practice, but above all in my role as a pro-active accountant and business developer.
