This is, on the surface, a pleasant parable of change management, which can be applied in all walks of life. From kids to teens, from relationships to careers.
It suffers, however, from one small, niggling character flaw:
Billy Fury died more than 20 years ago, at the age of only 42, but he remains one of the most enduringly popular British singers of the 1960s. He excelled as a furious rock 'n' roller, but his management and record label decided - correctly - that he could be better exploited commercially covering big American ballads. This is the first-ever attempt to produce a biography of Fury in book form, and Spencer Leigh has worked well with the material. He relies on some interviews, but substantially on published sources, as he did not have the cooperation of Fury's family or, apparently, his long-time companiion Lisa Voice. This book bridges the divide between the narrow conventional Christianity that so often sidelines or misunderstands creation and humanity's role within it, and the secular concerns about the planet and specifically climate change. Rowan Williams once reduced a radio interviewer to incredulity by saying global warming was a great moral issue that could impact adversely upon billions of people, but this fine survey of the science, and Christianity relevant to it, bears him out. The science, written by a Cambridge Professor of Geophysics, is authoritative and clearly set out. The biblical survey is similarly incisive, particularly the review of the relevant sections of Isaiah and the Old Testament in general. It provides a compelling call to arms for the Church ... You may find that only half this book is relevant to you - but it is still well worth purchasing. The author explains in clear rational language the processes of male pattern hair loss and how this can be controlled - with or without drugs. The sections on herbal reatment and the importance of diet are excellent - my own experience testifies to the effectiveness of these recommendations.
