Books : Quick After-work Low-fat Cookbook

Quick After-work Low-fat Cookbook

by: Sue Kreitzman
March 26, 1998

A friend bought me this book as a present about five years ago and I think it's one of the best presents I've ever had. The recipes are really easy to follow and pretty quick to make and there are lots of really handy hints on how to do things like char grilling peppers. The best thing about this book for me is the sauces used in her recipes which I've adapted to use in my own dishes - for example I use the sauce in her Thai-Style Chicken Noodle Salad recipe to make vegetarian chow mein. The pictures are great too as they actually bear some resemblance to what you prepare yourself. This book is great for anyone who wants to eat healthily without slaving over the stove for hours.

As someone familiar with low fat cookery a la Conley I found this to be an excellent addition to my recipe collection. The book is for those who love cooking, have plenty of time and who want to buy good quality ingredients. Whilst it isn't for those budget meals prepared in a whirl at the end of a hard day, surrounded by hungry children, it does offer inspiration for the weekend. It is laid out in the way we have come to expect from Dorling Kindersley; beautiful and very useful photos with lots of variations to recipes and clear instructions that would enable even my teenage son to produce a tantalising meal. It proves that low fat meals ... Read More:

I first followed Sue Kreitzman's recipes fifteen years ago. Sue's ideas work, it is that simple. Her techniques for dry frying mean you can eat the food you enjoy and still follow a low fat diet.

Sue Kreitzman's Low-Fat Vegetarian Cookbook

Having benn a veggie for nearly 15 years I am delighted that there are still some tricks to learn! I bought this book a few years ago with good intentions but a distrust of how tasty low fat food could be meant it was left unopened on the shelf until my partner and I embarked on a serious diet.....and wow I wish I had looked at it sooner.

My other half (being a non-vegetarian) has been more than complimentary about the recipies and has mentioned how much easier it has been to stick to the diet when the food tates as good as it does. (and I think a comment like that from a meat eater is the best recomendation a veggie cookbook can have!)

It would have been nice to have more pictures (as with most cookbooks)and I wish it was ... Read More:
