Recently Natsuki Takaya has dealt with the relationships of some of the supporting characters... and now it's back to the main trio.
And the nineteenth volume of "Fruits Basket" focuses on Tohru's growing feelings for Kyo, even as she struggles to free him from his curse -- and the scorn of the other zodiac members. Though there are some funny moments (mostly from the wonderfully wacky Ayame) growing romantic feelings and past regrets are littered all through these chapters.
Heartfelt talks take up a lot of space -- when Shigure tells Tohru about the approaching "last banquet" and the cat's place, she is left struggling with her torn feelings. Kyo has a chat with her kindly grandfather about Tohru, and remembers his own talk ... Read More:

Fruits Basket from the first volume has been building up to volume 17- all the secrets you ever wanted to know about Akito is out of the bag- and Natsuki Takaya doesn't disappoint you. Trust me this will leave your mouth opening for the drama that unfolds and the biggest shock will never make you look at the characters the same way again. The book is full of drama and gets in depth of those mysterious characterS. What you see is what you get and shows that Fruits Basket is not your average shojo manga series. i give this 5 stars- After reading this you will just want more but thats the same for all Fruits Basket volumes lol. ^^

I've been reading Fruits Basket ever since it was first released in English, an "avid fan" if you will. In this volume you get more backstory about Tohru Honda's mother and father, along with other things, but I'm not explaining anything, you must buy it to find out.
I've just re-read the series up to volume 16(getting 17&18 for xmas) and its rekindled my love and obsession for the series. It's just the kind of series you can identify with, you can pick out the similarities to yourself. And the characters just have so much depth!!
If your looking for a shojo series to really get into, this is one of the best you can find. It's millions of fans will back me up.
It's got everything, bishies, love, drama, comedy and much more.
This book is SO SAD!! At the beginning its focused on Yuki's past. It show his first meeting with Kyo as a child and when his mother "sold" him to Akito. The story ,that many people have been wating, about when Tohru gets lost and is found by Yuki is told in full!!! He also admitts his true feeling for Tohru to Kakeru. After making you (most people i no) cry for the first few chapters Takaya san adds comedy to the end and shows the main cast and the school students preparing for their play of cinderella. There's a surprise in everyones roles. And you'll never belive who plays Cinderella herself!
And theres some really cute fan art at thu back!

I eagerly awaited this volume after coming late to the series and ploughing through the previous thirteen volumes at lightning speed ... and the same went for this one. I snapped it up and couldn't put it down until I'd finished it!
Mysterious and beautiful, Isuzu 'Rin' Sohma is at the centre of the unfolding events throughout most of this volume. It's great to learn about her backstory, which certainly one of the most dramatic and sad out of all the Sohmas (and that's saying something, since they all have their fair share of trauma!). Accordingly, the tone in both the writing and the art is darker than much of what has gone before, which made for a 'style departure' of sorts which I was pleasantly surprised by. (Not that the darkness was pleasant. Just that ... Read More:

I found this volume one of the best that I have read, it exsposes Kyo's past, which really accounts for his bitterness. I found it a real tear jerker. Normaly when it gets to a good part in fruits basket , i jump up and down and go crazy cause its like wooow that happended. but when i read this volume and a good bit happended (which it does)i just sat staring into space, so dumbfounded, then i started crying (i get really into manga) - i hope that doesnt give too much away but im telling you this volume is really good.:-)

I know there really isn't any point in me writing this review because you probably all ready love the series, and as this is volume five, assuming you are up to four, you will need to buy this one if you ever hope to progress beyond it; but... I just love Fruits Basket so much! I had to write a review for it!
So, this volume finds Tohru and the gang going on holiday for a couple of chapters. We learn more about the existing characters, and as always, we meet a bunch of new ones. The art is fantastic as usual and the little comments Takaya leaves throughout the manga are always welcome.
This series just keeps getting better and better; I just adore Fruits Basket. This series has everything all packed into every single volume, so if you are new to manga ... Read More:
