my daughter had to read this book for homework. i have never been as bored by a book in my life. my daughter who was 9 at the time and luckily had an interest in reading found it tough going. the story drags, the characters are uninspirational and the story is just plain monotonous. for children who havn't go a great interrest in reading anyway stay well away from this book. a one star rating is too good for this book

My mother read this book to my sister and I when we were children and I can't wait to explore it again. This book should be read by children the world over. A lovely heart warming classic.x.

My son is almost 8 . We are reading this at bedtime and he is completely enthralled. He loved the previous book and this has not failed us either , in fact it has had him on the edge of his pillow throughout - desperate to see the illustrations so that he can visualise it fully. The plot is good - cute little ex-witches cat , off to rescue his sister Sootica , accompanied by his new friend the little wooden horse , fleeing from a pack of hounds , flying with the bats from a haunted church , etc , etc. We have yet to finish it but love it already. I know it will be read over & over again.

...if so, then this one's for you. This story is a beautiful children's piece, which can inspire nostalgia in even the most hardened adults (like me!). It's a tale of eco-friendly rare-beast saving, with the creatures in question being even more cutely alarming than the slugs five-year-olds tend to bring in from the garden.

This is the same as the book I remember reading with my mum and brother when I was small, and I still remember it to this day 18 or so years later. A book I definitely recomend.
