Jamie's Ministry of Food is a book teaching you how to cook. I really enjoyed it and have started to cook by myself as well. It changed me a lot, especially for the one who rarely cook by herself. and it is easy to learn too, I never thought cooking could be that easy and enjoyable. Now I love cooking, and by watching all the dishes I finished, I'm so proud.

Stick Man is a fantastic book which my 2 girls who are 7 and 4 and I love. It flows really well (something I didn't find with Tiddler) and the story is just great. This probably now equals Snail and the Whale as one of my favourite kids books ever.

If you love reading to your child, do not miss this book.
It is a delightful, humourous,dream-like surreal book, with a repetitive, poetic, chanting story. It is (deservedly) a children's classic. Many reviewers here have tried to break down the different elements of this book. What I would like to convey is the whole experience of reading the book which teaches a simple life experience to a child - which is highly spiritual, particularly the last pages where a riot of colour is the world through the eyes of a butterfly. Growing up with a Chinese mother who cooks the best chinese, I have developed a very good palate. I consider myself a foodie and relish in cooking, but always go back to the basics, which is Chinese.
This book is an excellent source of inspiration for people who can cook and also easy enough for beginners. A review here said the food was bland and I beg to differ. Growing up in Hong Kong, the Chinese I know relied on the freshest ingredients to deliver the best flavours. Spices were used minimally. We went to the East Midland Food show this year where Anjum was doing cookery demonstrations. She is passionate about her cooking and explains her methods and ingredients simply and effectively. I've made a few of the dishes in here and found inspiration for some of my own based around the core recipes in this book. I'd recommend the yogurt based curry - very healthy with little fat or oil and very tasty. A winner with all the family. >>More Details |

This book is full of inspiring and easy to follow recipes, delicious photography and lots of personal touches and anecdotes which make it a 'real' book. I like the way the dishes are made using accessible ingredients as sometimes celebrity cook books are full of ingredients which are difficult to come by or expensive. In fact I love the old fashioned and 'simple food' element, but above all the recipes are for 'proper' good food, ideal for family meals and social gatherings without days of worry and preparation beforehand.

I've watched the TV series with interest so I thought I'd take the plunge and buy Anjums new book. There are a lot of new recipes I've not heard of before in here but the first one I tried was the good old vindaloo. I was a little skeptical because there didn't seem to be a lot of ingredients but as it turned out it made a delicious curry. These proberbly aren't pure authentic Indian recipes but that's not what the book is claiming, after all the series is called Indian food made easy.
I've bought several so called Indian cook books that failed to deliver but this is not one of them. I'm definately going to be hunting out other books by the same author >>More Details |

This suffers from the same problems as the DVD.
It's derivative. There is absolutely nothing that hasn't been said over and over again. It's simplistic. Life can be simple, but that doesn't mean you should treat your audience as if they are too. It's repetitive. Get a variety of different figures in your niche to all say the same things using slightly different words. It's nasty. Follow the philosophy through to it's logical conclusion and you are left with the concept that those who suffer have brought it upon themselves. There may be a grain of truth for some of the many unfortunates out there, but try telling a starving family in a poverty- and drought-stricken wilderness that really they ought to just change their attitudes ... My 2 year old son and I adore this book. He requests it nightly, choosen from 2 huge shelves of books, with a smile from mummy as I don't tire of it either! The illustrations are beautifully drawn, accompanying the story perfectly. The tale rhymes nicely, although if read too quickly becomes a bit of a tongue twister which makes us both laugh. This book was originally recommended to me by a friend, and is now passed on enthusiastically to others. I would recommend the board book to even the youngest of children as the illustrations are lovely, with lots of things to point out and look for. We are just about to invest in our second copy as the original is looking a bit old and battered now! Enjoy!

Bought for my 2 year old daughter who is peppa mad, these are cute little books that keep her entertained. They are descriptive rather than actual stories describing areas that peppa goes or things she likes to do. My daughter loves them though and they aren't taxing to rely to her over and over and over...
