This book is a short, yet thoroughly fascinating look at the etiquette and cultural conventions of Japan. It is invaluable if you intend to visit Japan and don't wish to commit a social faux pas, but is also interesting to read in it's own right.

Although there were a couple of useful things to know in this book there were really no massive revelations. In my experience as long as you are a normal, decent respectful person with an ounce of common sense you will get by fine. I made a couple of social faux pas in my time in India but because I was polite people either quietly pointed them out - trying not to embarrass me - or found it all rather amusing.
In a way I found with this book that it could make people rather paranoid about trying to remember all these minor conventions and social etiquettes. Be nice, be polite and observe what others do - that's it. >>More Details |

This is a great little book full of useful tips on how to approach the Finns and their way of life. I have `Finnish` friends and this book helped me not to embrasses myself. It covers the Finns at home in the workplace and if you are invited to a Finn house. A good read.

This book has put so much more depth into my knowledge of Germany, It enabled me to understand the ins and outs of the German culture and way people live, and really improved my month long travels of Germany. Even if you are not going to Germany, buy this book, it is such an interesting read. I'll be going out to buy all the others in the series just to bring me closer to other countries.
