Having read such glowing reviews of this book i began to read it with high expectations - it may well be a good descriptive text, but it has no impact at all on all of the billions of people on the planet who can't just conveniently run away to an island or go off for a year to find themselves - it was a self-satisfying, shallow read - i am sorry I wasted hard-earned money on it.

Three Cups of Tea is the story of how one man can make a difference, and should be a lesson for all of us to never give up thinking that we can make a difference. This is an excellent story about an extraordinary individual and an incredible village most of us have never heard of before. This is a must read for any outdoor enthusiast, humanitarian, and just about anyone who genuinely cares about the world and all those living in it.

Avoid this book like the plague,it pulls you in and is interesting for the 1st 100 pages or so then keeps re-hashing the the same thing over again,if you believe anything in this book you'll also believe in the tooth fairy,I persevered until the the end and it did'nt half make my head ache,what a load of cobblers, Nurse where's my aspirin.

This is a very welcome return to the Yorkshire Dales and the people - both young and old - who inhabit them. This book is imbued with the love, laughter, hardship, tears and honesty that his previous books have been filled with.
"Mester Phinn" is a very good story-teller and has an easy style about his writing. The love he has for the people and places he writes about is thee for all to see. The characters and characterisations are as colourful and fulsome as in his previous outings. This book is a wonderful way to spend a pleasant few hours after a hard day at work, or just a good book to become lost in at any time of the day. The various sections focusing on the history of both arts are fascinating, with information you would never have considered and you can tell Dita is both knowledgeable and passionate about her art. If you're a fan of Dita or just interested in Burlesque or Fetish then this is an excellent place to go, and though slightly unorthodox, this would make a wonderful coffee table book.
