This book changed my life!! OK, slight exaggeration but it did wonders for my cooking confidence, which means i cook a lot more now, and that can't be a bad thing. First of all the recipes are very varied & delicious. Also importantly (for me at least..!), all the 'work' is in the prep, which of course you can take all the time you like over (though it needn't take long). The actual cooking tends to be pretty quick and easy stir frying, so no panicking during cooking. The ingredients needed are pretty easy to come by (fresh vegetables; chillies, lemongrass; soy & fish sauce; soba noodles; dashi etc.). The final reason i love these recipes is that you feel really good for having had such a healthy meal, without it tasting 'too healthy'..!

I love going to Yo! Sushi when on site with work, trouble is at home the nearest restaurant is over an hour away. This book allows me to recreate the delicious food. It has to be said my efforts are not up to the standard of the chef's but if you get fresh ingredients they taste, if not look, great.
As for the book - not only is it informative and easy to read, it is also a work of art in itself, the photography and general layout and appearance make it an ideal coffee table book for the occasional read. This is by far the best noodle recipe book on the market. Bought one for myself last yet, now bought another as a gift. Nicely illustrated, gorgeous receipes, great price. I almost bought this book at full price in a leading book shop, but thought I'd check it on Amazon first, glad I did. You won't be disappointed. Would make a great gift.

You can't beat the price for this set. Unlike the other reviewer I had no pen marks in my book, and there was no dust. Perhaps that was a one-off thing? Anyway, the set is gorgeous, the book is very informative. It would make a great gift for someone interested in sushi, or for yourself if you are learning how to make sushi for the first time, like me. I highly recommend it!

This is a beautiful and well written cookbook. it aims at being comprehensive and authentic and definitely succeeds. However, the author has the most exacting and uncompromising approach to ingredients and recipes i have ever encountered in a cookbook and this really undermines it in the long run. This book is all about producing the food that Thais eat in Thailand and as such, demands a whole bunch of really specialised ingredients. I live in Manchester and we have a bunch of Chinese/Asian supermarkets and at least 3 Thai food stores and even then I've had real trouble finding some of the things. All recipes are very easy to follow including pictures of how your dish should look & lots of helpful hints on technique. The end results of all the dishes I have tried have been excellent & the book offers a blend of traditional favourites & some new and very interesting ideas. Money well spent!

I didn't expect the book to be so small and was first suspicious because it felt like one of those that don't really have "true" recipes. Note that some ingredients are missing their instruction in the description of the recipe, which I find annoying.
However I have made possibly 10 recipes so far and they are just perfect! I just love this tiny little book and find the instructions simple to follow, except for the rolled omelette which I haven't managed to make properly yet. >>More Details |

Beautiful photographs of a beautiful land, this is a trip around Thailand with cooking to the fore. Some of the ingredients are difficult to get hold of, but on the whole a very worthy book. If like me, you love thai food and you have the time to indulge, it is worth getting this book.
