This book helps you to understand all the food exchanges and how they play a part of your diet. The recipes I have tried have been wonderful and my family has enjoyed every meal I have fixed.

Whilst this book is full of handy advice, I do not recommend it for UK residents as the recipes contain products only available in the USA.

I bought this book for my mother in law as a present as she had been newly diagonaised with diabeties. Unlikely a lot of books I had looked at this was simple to understand, had good general information and also easy recipes. A lot of books seemed to have fancy recipes for food I knew she would never eat but this has great, easy recipes for everyones tastes. I was so impressed by the recipes I bought it for myself and im not diabetic. The recipes dont have photos but are really easy to cook, usually with some recipe books you only use about three or four recipes but this has countless recipes I am trying.
The information at the beginning explains about diabeties , how foods can affect diabeties and what foods can be eaten or avoid. Very ... Read More:

This book is of no use to people in Britain, nor I suspect anywhere else outside the USA.
It calls for very unusual ingredients, which you would be unlikely to have in the house, and would certainly have great difficulty finding in the shops. I go to a lot of different health food stores for my shopping, and none of them sell reduced acid orange juice concentrate, for example, or date sugar. The author also specifies particular brands (of fruit juice, potato mix - whatever that is - etc.) which are of course not available over here.
On top of that all the meaurements are in CUPS. A US cup is not the same volume as a UK cup. The oven temperatures are also in degrees Fahrenheit only, with no Celsius of Gas Mark alternatives. Read More:

This book was a great disappointment. It should really be called Diabetic sweets, because more than half its content is given to what we English would call sweets ( candies for the Americans ).There are very few actual dessert recipes and most of those are classic recipes slightly adapted for diabetics in a way which any intelligent reader could have worked out for themselves. If you are looking for interesting desserts and puddings this is not the book for you.
