A collection of short stories by some of today's most popular authors... and a good cause thrown in for good measure. This collection is extremely varied, in terms of both writing styles and subject matter, so there's bound to be a few stories in there you'll absolutely love.
See what happens when three children, Jo, and his two sisters, Bessie and Fannie, discover their very own Enchanted Wood, and meet new friends Silky the Fairy, Moon-Face and the Saucepan Man who all live in the magical Faraway Tree. Their real adventures begin when they all climb up and discover the most thrilling and peculiar! Lands that exist beyond the clouds at the top of the tree which some are good and some rather confusing and some plain dreadful. I like most of the Lands and characters like the angry pixie, Mr Watizname and Dame Washalot.
The characters are funny and some of the lands are very exciting like the land of snow and ice where there are evil snowman and even Santa Claus.

Funny, lovable and heartwarming. Better because it comes from the heart as only children can present the story of 2000 years ago in a Nativity play. I could imagine the voices of the children and Gervais Phinn as I read the book.

From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, ... Read More:

Machiavelli's Il Principe is a slim volume, but it's jam-packed with aperçu of political scenarios that just somehow seemed to be completely beyond the grasp of many so-called philosphers hundreds of years later. I'm not naming any names, but some of the political tomes I've read come across like the writer has spent too much time pondering and not enough time living.
The other thing that sets Machiavelli apart is that it's fun to read. If you admire the work of Marcus Aurelius, Sun Tzu, or The KLF, then this book is a must.
The most basic lesson of Machiavelli is simple common sense - namely that common sense isn't common, and has nothing to do with sense.
Chapters XIX "The need to avoid contempt and hatred" and XXIII "How flatterers must be ... Read More:

There are 4 stories here but only the one story by jd robb was worth reading this book for. Eve Dallas is back but in a very short story although it was still a good read. The other stories feature a wizard who is lost, a ghost who gets his comeuppance and a love story set in the past. Some of you may like these other stories but they were not as enjoyable as the eve dallas/roarke combo.

This volume of "quickies" was some of the best erotic reading I have done in a while. It was to the point, to put it mildly! Can't wait for vol. 3!! Another "quickie" erotic read I devoured and would recommend: Sex Scenes: Erotica Excerpts from the Novels of Kim Corum.
