This book is FANTASTIC. On behalf of my daughter, I would like to say this is a very moving story and is a real page turner. The symapathy goes out to this girl because it is a true story and it sets the scene. The ordeals this girl (Adaline Yen Mah) goes through is truely awful and you feel for her. My daughter has cried and commented on this book to me and it has intrested me. My daughter is in year 8 and does not like reading at all but this book was set for her and her class to read for school and she has read it and is so sad when she hears about this poor young girl and what she goes through. It talks about her as a young girl and moves to adult hood and Adaline Yen Mah is truely a chinese cinderella. Very moving and HIGHLY recommened.

This is an amazing book. By the end, you real feel like you know Anne. She's an incredible girl, and tells of her amazing journey through teenage life in hiding. This book is filled with powerful emotions, there are sad bits, frightening bits and happy bits. I just couldn't put it down. As you read about Anne's life, you began to feel you know her, and when you find out what happens to her at the end, it real feels like loosing a member of your family. I was in tears. She's such a brave girl, and didn't deserve such an awful life. Read it, it really is an amazing story.

I bought this book for my six year old son, as well as After The War Was Over. Both are perfect for dipping into and inspire endless discussions about what life was like in 'olden times' This book combines a personal story with factual information and wonderful illustrations. Perfect for children who are ready to progress from picture books to chapter books in terms of content but who like the reassurance of plenty to look at in a book as well as words. A great introduction to history and supports the national curriculum, my older son found it very useful during Year 5 as a reference book.

I bought this book for my six year old son, it is perfect for dipping into and inspires endless discussions about what life was like when his grandparents were growing up. Full of mini stories about the end of the war, refugees, football, advertising and art I have found he returns to it again and again. Perfect for children who are ready to progress from picture books to chapter books in terms of content but who like the reassurance of plenty to look at in a book as well as words. A great introduction to history too.

I would recommend this book to any girls or teenagers who are interested in Anne Frank or the second world war. It is a good idea to read this book before starting to read the diary; as it gives a good description of Anne Frank's life before moving into hiding, her friends and her family. Anne was obviously a real flirt, and at times I laughed out loud at the things she did! But at others I almost cried to hear what happened in Anne Frank's life and other jewish childrens' when they moved to concentration camps. You can really sense what it would of been like before moving into the annexe, and then what kind of atmosphere there would of been in it. It also describes exactly what happened when the nazis found Anne and her family, and what it would ... Read More:
