I am always interested in people's life story, especially that of famous people. He is the proud of black people. I am still reading this book, haven't finished it yet, but really enjoying it. I can learn a lot from it.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get this review written but Bridgette Bardot put me in a time capsule with a drawing of an orange cat holding an air rifle.
A great excuse, I know. It's not mine I'm afraid but just one from Vince's Book of Excuses for Being Late Volume III, one of many tiny treats housed within this incredible tome - as just one slurp from a whole selection of soups.
Some of the other instructional passages in this book are Bob Fossil's A-Z of Animals (where the elephant is `Grey leg-face man'), The Phases of the Moon (`The full moon, the main moon, the chalky white ball-bag hanging in the sky like a screwed up letter from a paedophile'), Eleanor's Top Sexpressions (`Turn me over and record all over my ... "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream" is Barack Obama's second book, and it is his personal view of the direction that the United States needs to move in terms of the type of politics we practice. It is not a look at whether one should be liberal or conservative--though he certainly does speak to the liberal positions better than the conservative ones; but rather about moving away from the divisive politics which have become the norm in recent years. The book is only nine chapters long, as Senator Obama goes into some depth of his thinking in a variety of areas.
The first chapter, titled "Republicans and Democrats", covers the recent political history which he feels has led to the divisive nature of ... Read More:

This book is brilliant for some me-time/time-wasting evenings. I read it over two short evenings when my husband was gaming on the X-Box. It would be equally good on holiday instead of chick-lit or on a wet Saturday afternoon when the children often need attention and you don't want to get into a gripping novel. The chapters are short and therefore not so involved that you want to carry on reading to the exclusion of all else. The book is sometimes informative, but often so laugh-out-loud that the afore-mentioned husband looked away from his gaming a number of times to ask what I had just read.
In short, not great literature (I don't imagine that Mr. Clarkson intended it to be so), but funny, escapist and a great way to fill in a few ... Read More:

My little boy got given this book for CHristmas last year and loves it so much that I could probably quote it all the way through, I've read it so often. Okay, there's not a strong story but what do you expect for a cartoon book for pre-schoolers? The rhymes are cute and the pictures are great - we love it, and so do all the kids at nursery!

This is not a good book. I read quite a bit and feel like the book world is going mad if it believes that this book is a prize winner. It reads like a high school students attempt at a novel.....

What a great book - packed with gems of wit and wisdom. Only the interesting-facts QI team could deliver such a great collection and do it so well. Clearly a real labour of love for those who put it together.
A veritable treasure trove. An ideal present for almost anyone on almost any occasion.

An interesting book with humour and a few helpful hints but I have been cooking for a family for 30 years - probably of more use to the younger reader with limited kitchen skills - I will give this to my daughter in the hope that I might come home to a cooked meal that doesnt cost £5 a head and leave every pan and surface in the kitchen covered in goo! I am an optimist at heart.
Disappointingly several pages fell out as I read it so make sure you have sellotape to hand.

I love buying these kinds of books for presents - you can read them first before wrapping-up! I bought this along with a Joined-Up Thinking by Colgan (Stephen Fry gave a quote on the front cover) and both books entertained me hugely on these cold, wet, darker days. great stuff.
