This book is an excellent guide when you have something you want to try but don't want to wade through the contents pages of other cook books. You want beef then look up beef and its all there. It makes food a pleasure to prepare and has a down to earth practical attitude without being patronising.

I have now bought at least 6 copies of this for people I know who are setting up home and wanting to start making progress in the culinary jungle and I am about to buy anther one today its that good.

He may have a kitchen range worth the price of a small house but in this book he gives good advice on a vast range of food an excellent book for beginners, average and expert cooks every where.

Can I get a signed copy next time please!!

I use this book a lot! It has recipes by the season, with a wide range of ingredients so you can usually find something to knock up quickly that is also interesting and tastes nice. And the author has a sense of humour and lightness that is rare really even among cookery books! Anthony likes fattening food but there is plenty that isn't, too, and you can substitute yoghurt for cream and still get a good result, I find.

I am an AWT fan but must say I am a little disappointed in this publication. It has too much concentration on gas and kettle barbecues(which I do not own) A lot of the recipes are for larger pieces of meat which do not adapt well to a charcoal barbecue. There is a lot of wasted space in the book explaining basic skills which I feel that most of us already have after barbecueing a few times. I guess I will have to do my best in adapting these recipes to a normal small family barbecue occasion
