As someone relatively new to Digital SLR's (but not photography) this gave me a brief overview however I found it a bit waffley and did not really get into assisting with getting the most out of your digital SLR camera. It covered a lot of things but not in any great depth.
I would highly recommend a couple of other books to look at as well if you are looking for a book of this type : (1) The Book of Digital Photography by Chris George or (2) The Digital Photography Book Volume 2 by Scott Kelby.

Absolutely brilliant book. I have just started doing web coding and having enevr done it before I was completely lost in class and not only that I couldn't follow what the tutor was saying and the practicals because I found it so tediously boring, I thought there was NO hope for me ever being able to train my mind to concentrate on boring XHTML.
Anyway after getting this book I am transformed! I read it on the way to uni read it on the way back and even read it in bed that night it is great. Very informative and so clear as well. I have quite a short attention span and get bored easily but the pictures visualisations of what the author is talkign about keeps you readind and shows you examples of what you can do. There isn't ... Read More:

This is the only book you will need for the D300.
There are so many functions and settings in the camera's menu that it is easy to get yourself wrapped up in them. This book sorts out any settings you may have altered by accident. I thought I had bought a faulty camera but this book sorted me out. Worth every penny. Should be supplied by Nikon as default. I feel I really understand my D300 after reading this book. (Yes cover to cover.)

This is the book for anyone who wants value for money as well as helpful instruction in the art of watercolour. It's packed with advice, instruction, and beautiful pictures and includes a marvelous gallery of paintings by other artists with helpful explanations by Hazel about how they achieved their effects. The author writes well and knows what she's talking about. Beginners and experienced watercolourists will both find enormous inspiration. I go back to it time and time again.

Given this as a Christmas present, I was not immediately inspired, however I did dip into it and found myself rather hooked!
As a reference book it is wonderful- all those little things that you weren't sure about... all those things you were wondering...
How does that work?
Who was he?
How did he do that?
Which episode did that happen?
What does a Compact Laser Deluxe do? Who had one, and, you know... Where?!
Get all your questions answered and more in this neat, beautifully illustrated guide to the world that is uniquely Doctor Who!
The entire book it dedicated to every useful, and er, not so useful fact that is Doctor who. Who knows what happened in 1336 with the doctor, Rose and Captain Jack? What ... Read More:

This book is great! Having just flipped through it, you can see right away that the pictures inside are big and easy to see the detail. It also gives a little background to the different images used in a Japanese Tattoo. For example, it tells you what the dragon symbolises and where it originated from in the tattoo format.
I would recommend this book for any tattoo enthusiast.

Have you ever told a stranger something that no one else knows about you? I often think that's the main purpose of sitting on long airplane flights: Confiding in strangers makes secret burdens emotionally lighter.
Frank Warren obviously understands that point and provides a needed outlet for those who can't even tell a stranger . . . but feel comfortable sending in a postcard with their secret on it. I'm sure thousands of people are walking a little lighter.
Much like watching a film of a disaster, you'll be counting your blessings as you review these often deeply painful admissions. In that way, your own secrets won't seem so heavy. I suspect that those with unshared secrets can benefit from both sharing and reading ... Read More:

This is a great book if like me you are interested in art but have a short attention span! The entries are very informative but concise and the whole breadth of art movements is covered. My only suggestion would be an updated version with more contemporary artists such as Anthony Gormley and Damien Hirst.
