This book can teach anyone who is willing to go through the exercises to draw. It won't teach you to be an artist ie to come up with drawings out of your head but it will teach you to copy realistically what you see before your eyes. Within weeks days or possibly hours you can turn from drawing like a five year old to drawing like a pro.
The author says that anyone who can write can draw and proves she is absolutely right
Expect unbelievably amazing results just by practising a few simple exercises

Received the book yesterday and my husband (who's an architect), hasn't been able to put it down. He thinks it's brilliant, informative and concise, he's using it now for work he's doing. Would recommend it to any student or Architect who needs reference in an easy to read format.

This was the first book of katie's that i read and i really enjoyed it. She is very forward about everything she says and isn't afraid to speak what's on her mind! Thats what i love about it, it's just about her. It's a great read and i would recommend anyone to get it, it would be money well spent! :)

Jack Vettriano is without doubt the world's worst artist, a man who taste forgot. All of his paintings are terrible beyond belief, basically the bloke doesn't have a clue. If you want to see paintings, which have depth, and are sublime, by artists who know how to paint people - instead of making them look like mannequins - then look at the work of Goya, Soutine &c. - and use any publications featuring the work of Vettriano as firewood. Good for your heating bill & for yourself. You'll feel better for it.

I have just bought this book and can honestly say it is now my absolutely favourite book. Tim Walker's photographs are so imaginative, wacky and beautifully shot, that this book is guaranteed to inspire you. If you have been considering buying this book but perhaps are hesitating over its price as I did, (although there is a considerable discount if you buy it on amazon) I would urge you to buy it now as it is worth every penny. The only problem with it is that it is so huge that I have no idea where I am going to keep it, but no doubt I shall make a space for it somewhere in a prominent position where I can look at it every day!
If you do buy it I hope you enjoy and love it as much as I do.

I have never left a review before but this book really helped me. I have made the odd slide before but nothing fancy. I needed to give a full presentation as part of an assignment and as part of my work role. I had created the usual text laden ppt that I had experience of seeing others present. I needed some literature to back up my decision in my assignment and found this book. In one day it transformed my whole presentation. I had lots of fun using pictures suggested from istockphoto and the critical audience that I presented to was really impressed with the slides I had produced. Yes most of what he says is common sense when you think about it - but the book is so easy to follow and you will kick yourself for not realising it all by yourself! However sometimes you need ... I have mixed feelings about this book. I'm a bit of a fan of Leibovitz's celebrity work, and the studio photos were indeed excellent (if you're considering this book, you'll probably have seen many of them before).
The 'best-the-scenes' photos of Leibovitz's life were also interesting. They didn't hold my attention too long, but they certainly had some interesting moments, and will be interesting to you if you want to find out more about her life.
The most disappointing aspect of this book is the production; many of the best photos have been split across two pages, so that the centre of attention is right down the spine in the middle, hidden in the binding. To take such beautiful photos and present them so badly doesn't say much for the publisher. It's a ... Read More:
