I got this book for my birthday and was really excited as ive been struggling with my creativity for a few years.
Unfortunately, the book is based largely on religion, and God features on every other page. I realised spirituality would be a part of the process, and the introduction states you don't need to believe in god to use the book which encouraged me. However, as you move through the book, religion becomes more prominent and I found my mind being blocked right back up with all the references to a higher power.
I got to week four and got sick of it. The tasks are very rigid and I found myself only benefiting from the practice of writing "morning pages" and artists dates. The rest I can leave behind.
There are a significant number of entries that tell you where the banksy graffitti used to be, before it was scrubbed.... provides a good guide to the efforts of the cleaners... but there are a few worthwhile entries ... i would not have felt cheated by a thinner book.

This book is quite simply awful. Trinny and Susannah are scraping the barrel with this book and have obviously run out of ideas. They look terrible in a selection of joke shop wigs and ill fitting clothes and have no real understanding of what the icons they have chosen looked like. Terribly researched stocking filler rushed out for the Christmas market - avoid!

This is exactly what I was looking for, a book which taught me the basics then applied them to different situations. I feel a lot more confident playing around with the settings on my camera and my photography has improved as a result. I like the way he has taken a photograph for each subject and then explained the settings on the right hand side. After reading the first two chapters I was able to cover up the settings, look at the photograph and predict what he had used. In no time at all I was grasping the logic and gaining confidence. A lovely book for beginners. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I also like the fact that he has explained commonly made errors in composition and lighting and illustrated the flawed results on the same page. I ... Read More:

This book is a really wonderful present for all costumers and especially for those who is familiar with excellent quality of Janet Arnold's books. Not only "Patterns of Fashion 4" has all the values of previous Arnold's publications, it has more!
As usual, the book is divided into 2 parts: theoretical and practical, latter including patterns and drawings of artefacts.
Just to point out some definite values - for one, there are very many color(!) photographs in theoretical chapter. It's possible to see any details of textile, embroidery, lace or simple seam. Also, theoretical chapter is 50% of book (which is more than in "PF 3") and material is well structured by clothing types - Shirts & smock (men's, women's), Neckswear (ruffs, bands, rebatos, ...
