This is such a fun book to read with the kids and so easy to go through it. There is not need at all to stop during reading and answer questions, besides questions like: "Mom, did it happen to you too"?
My kids (not yet 8 and 10) read this almost every evening, over and over. I highly recommend it :)).

This is such a beautiful, clever, insightful, witty book. Every child should own it. it is gentle and wry and I am amazed how even very young children understand the underlying messages in john Burningham books. No need to replace ANY of the words?! It is perfect. Check out also The Magic Bed and possibly the greatest picture book ever - Would you Rather. Buy it! :)

There is suspense, anticipation and fun. Children love reading this book with you and it's great for sound effects and characterisation with all the animals of the jungle to boot.

My four year old son really enjoys this book, he finds it very funny. It really appeals to a four year olds' sense of humor. There are also things going on in the illustrations to talk about. As a parent, this is one that I enjoy reading too.

This is a lovely tale of little bear and his toy friends each doing a painting because they would rather do their own thing than paint one single picture together. Then Old Bear, the sensible elder of the toy crew, cleverly turns all the resultant patterns into a lovely boat scene which is better then the sum of its parts. The illustrations in this book, like Jane Hissey's others, have a wonderful soft timeless quality. In addition, whereas I have found some of the other Old Bear stories don't hold my children's attention too well, this one has less text per picture so we all love it. The book ... Read More:

I really wanted to like this book.
I firmly believe that Maurice Sendak has created timeless childrens' books and some of the best childrens' books ever written or illustrated.
His artwork alone changed childrens' books for the better and forever with "Where the wild things are", his follow up books "In the night kitchen " and "Outside over there" were also magnificent works of art, this one however I feel lets the side down a little.
The pictures seem a little flat and have a "workbook, Sketchy" feel to them, like this is the first draft of a book that could be quite good.
The size of the book also lets it down, being really rather small, the crease in the page where it is joined together to form a book eats into the ... Read More:

This is the traditional tale of Goldilocks with beautiful new illustrations by the fantastic Debbie Gliori. Its a really nice version of the tale without the sickeningly sweet ending which some authors seem to put on this tale now where they all had a hug and were friends forever. This follows the more traditional route of Goldilocks running off into the forest never to be seen again a really nice version of this excellent fairytale.
