If you like peter Kay then buy this book. Ignoring all the 'wanna be book critics' desreratly looking to be discovered and offered a job with the world news agency. The book is peters look on his life in his own words and style. I'm not interested if it was badly writen, has gramatical errors or he jumps all over the place with out structure.
Reading the book was almost like chatting and listening to him talking about his life. So what ! that he stopped before he chatted about all his present success, i'm sure that another book will be out in a few years and will be equally funny. Enjoy

Funny, lovable and heartwarming. Better because it comes from the heart as only children can present the story of 2000 years ago in a Nativity play. I could imagine the voices of the children and Gervais Phinn as I read the book.
Alun Carter gives a real insiders view as to some of the more remarkable comings and goings on the episodes of Welsh rugby over the last 12 years. He does not pull many punches on his opinions of those who he feels have somewhat let the national team down during his spell as an analyst. He is very critical of the likes of Steve Hansen, Scott Johnson, Gareth Jenkins and Gareth 'Alfie' Thomas whilst he sings the praises of Graham Henry, Mike Ruddock and Clive Griffiths.
Carter gives a damning indictment on the player power that ultimately led to the resignation of a Grand Slam winning coach in Ruddock and tells of how some players were not willing to undertake tasks that were being asked of them by coaches who had a proven track record ... Read More:

Terry-Thomas is one of the very few actors that, on seeing his name in the cast list, will persuade me watch a film simply because he is in it. School for Scoundrels, the Naked Truth and Privates Progress are just three films from this era that just wouldn't be half the films they are without his presence in them.
In the 50's, which were surely the Golden age of British film comedy, his portrayals of the upper-class bounder enriched most of the films he appeared in. In the 60's he made it big in Hollywood too; the movie goers in the States saw him as the typical English toff and they took him to their hearts. Before his film career took off he became a big name (as well as being a pioneer) in British television comedy through his hard ... Read More:

I'm only about a third of the way through this book but wanted to add to the reviews on the site. If, like me, you happen on this page by accident and think "why not?" please follow through with that first thought and buy this amazing book. It's so rare to find work that really cant be criticised and this, the eloquent reflections of what must have been a wonderful man, could well be one of those rare finds. It's exceptionally well written, filled with intimate details of what England must have been like in less commercial times and as fluid, rhythmic and enchanting as the rivers and streams the author so clearly loves. Did I mention you should buy it?

I so wish i had seen reviews of this book before i purchased it.I have never been so dissappointed by a book. When i saw this was available i thought great can't wait to read it.It starts as a dissappointment when you find he has never even met David {i have said more to david after seeing Hamlet than this man has}Then he goes on to say that most of his information has come from websites, and not all of that is accurate. The only thing i can say is i now know a lot more about johnny Depp and Kylie Minogue and even colonel parker. To be honest i could have written better myself,it was too gappy very amateur and with a lot of needless page filling, think most of us are familiar with a lot of terms used in filming etc.David's acting history was also incorrect.Fans ... If you are looking for an autobiography, or revelations about Ursula Andress or Honor Blackman, then this will be a great disappointment. It is, in large part an opinionated review of Sctoland, something like the rock stars views on global warming,Tibet or PETA, and does ccasionally raise the question of 'so what?' However if you read it as a general overview of Scotland, its culture, development and background, then this is a very well written, thoughtful,thought-provoking and well produced book. Of course his perspective is different from that of most of us, his fame and wealth make that almost unavoidable. Some of it, his recommendations on the Iraqi War based 'Black Watch' play, for example, border on the patronizing - and may even be counter productive in getting ... Read More:
