I recently bought this book hoping to learn how to read and better understand the behavior of the business people and situations I come across daily in my work in finance. My hopes for this knowledge were SURPASSED as the guidance Mr. Navarro provides in this book is so practical and constructive you can start applying it immediately. I like his style of writing too - easy to follow, engaging with many real examples. I also found the pictures used throughout the book are very helpful in making a behavior memorable so I can look out for it as I go about my day, in and outside of work. I can see how this information could be applied to so many different jobs and situations, not just business and finance, and as such recommend it to anyone looking ... Read More:

One of the amazing things about the voyage of the Beagle is that Darwin survived it! On the voyage south along the eastern coast of South America and then later on the western coast he would frequently take to the land and meet the Beagle at its next port of call further south or north. He would travel the land hiring gauchos or other guides and horses and mules so that he could study the geology and the flora and fauna. The hardships and dangers he encountered and survived would in some ways put Indiana Jones to shame. In Patagonia amidst the constant gaucho and Indian wars, rife with wanton bloodshed and a kind of genocidal determinism, Darwin rode on horseback and slept on the ground and ate mostly animal flesh of all kinds, including mare's ... This is a delightful story about the adventures of the numerous cats that pass through Tom's life and his reaction to them and their reaction to him and each other. As a besotted (male) owner of two cats it is good to know I'm not the only one out there. The book is not for the faint hearted; there is death (mice, birds), destruction (house, parts of the human body) and mayhem but also some loving and tender moments that make it a purrrrfectly delightful book to read. Obviously I smirked smugly when I read about the mayhem - my cats sat obediently on my lap and purred contentedly while I read this book (who am I kidding!). This book is a must for all cat lovers.

A short book like this deserves a short review. This book is less about technique and more about procedure. Young's most important point is that new ideas come about through making connections with other disparate ones. Apart from that the book reads more like an ad man's notebook and is very dated. Historically interesting but of limited use.

I looked forward to reading this book, having seen all the reviews and the endorsement by Richard Dawkins himself, but I was sorely disappointed. To me it was an exercise in academic rambling, and did not really teach me anything that I could not have had from other books on evolution with more lucid language.

I got the feeling of the King's new clothes here, that maybe I'm some kind of ignoramus for not appreciating the man's logic and depth of argument. Sorry, but the king is naked.

It was pretentious and uninspiring language, hard going in trying to follow what the author was trying to convey, and ending up none the wiser. Daniel Dennett may well be a respected academic, but I did not really learn anything from him. I'm sure there are ideas locked up inside ... Read More:

A few other reviews have drawn attention to Barbara Kingsolver's "smugness", including one person who liked the book but doesn't want her round for dinner.

I'm usually really sensitive to people being a bit too pleased with themselves, but I didn't think this book was like that at all. I thought it was touchingly hilarious about the weeks that they ended up just bottling tomatoes for days on end. And I loved all the information about intensive farming, agribusiness seed companies, and terminator genes - like a good article in the Sunday paper.

Most of all I found the book really inspiring. It made me pay attention to where my food came from, much more than I already did. I have always tried to eat seasonally and avoided food imports, but I found myself really being intrigued ... Read More:

This book is fantastic!
I have just received my GCSE results and have got two A's in my science Double Award!! I would have never have got them if I had not used this book and also the chemistry edition.
It makes the work seem interesting and you think less about the revision!
Definately buy it!

This book is an amazing story of how humans get "hooked in". This is a must read for budding sales people and experienced sales people alike. It will truly change your perspective and make you better at what you do. I never would have thought, before reading this book, that social psychology was a science. I was totally immersed in the book from start to finish.

A fantastic book. Well written in an easy to follow, step by step (well month by month) guide. Having never owned a spaniel & having never trained a dog this book takes you through from the absolute basics to areas of training I don't think I'd need unless competing in FT's.
