Torey Hayden receives another child for her already full "Crazies" class. Children in her class are those which can't be placed elsewhere. Sheila comes from the migrant camp, she'd been abandonned by mother by the side of a highway. Torey works hard to reach into the troubled six year old, gain her trust and educate her. A difficult journey for both teacher and child but one that would leave all but the hardest of hearts unmoved.

For many years, as fossil plants emerged from the rocks, it was believed that these records reflected changes in climate. Plants, it was assumed, had to adapt to variations in weather and other conditions. According to Beerling, plant life was instead the major prompter of climate change. The balance of atmospheric gases was determined by the micro-organisms floating in the seas. The ability to absorb carbon dioxide, coupled with the use of sunlight to convert that into nutrients gives plants the power to shift gas quantities. During the early days, plants exhaled oxygen. It was poison to most organisms, but those capable of using it began the drive leading to today's life. In this useful survey of all the forces forming today's world, Beerling ... Read More:

Another outstanding book from Kelly Marks. Every horse handler needs Perfect Manners and Perfect Partners is the next step in building that special relationship with your horse. Now Perfect Confidence completes the Perfect trilogy.
This time Kelly excels herself by showing us how to improve our self esteem and capability, whilst enabling us to set and achieve realistic goals. And if that isn't enough, the book does it in a fun, interactive and easily readable way.
As you would expect there are lots of superb photographs of Kelly's former problem pony, American Pie and some rather unexpected, particulary touching contributions from Kelly's mentor, Monty Roberts, as well as from Kelly's major influence, her father, race horse ... Read More:

I bought this originally for myself as I am studying French, German and Spanish (for fun would you believe) but it is so easy to learn that my 7 year old has it on her iPod and we are starting to have conversations.
(I also speak to her in German at times and due to how easy these CD's are, she is able to have limited chats in that too.)
There are some tunes in the background which phrases are laid over in time, and you hear them and lock them in your mind along with the tune. The guys voice is almost hypnotic and the woman who speaks with him is clear and easy to understand making it ultra easy to repeat and learn.
She will often make the odd comment about language rules, but the CD doesn't bombard you with nouns, verbs, ... Read More:

I snoozed through year 10 and 11 Biology classes, learning very little. When it came to revising for my GCSEs, I used this book and got an A, and went on to get an A at Biology A-Level, which I would never have chosen if it weren't for this humble revision guide. It's written in a humourous, silly 'dad' style, but packs in an alarming amount of information and is very strict with its readers, using the good old "Now cover everything up and copy it out from memory" way of learning - which is the only thing that works, and isn't too hard taken in bitesize chunks (which reminds me, whatever happened to BBC Bitesize revision? Is that still going? Yawn!). I can't recommend CGP revision guides enough.
This is a superb book for therapists - experienced or novice - on the how-tos of doing cognitive therapy. It steps the reader through the basics, covers potential problems (from both client and therapist perspectives), provides advice on treatment planning and lists references for additional information on this effective form of therapy.

I abandoned this book as it is utterly boring. It is certainly not a page-turner. Its author has a patronising and discouraging attitude. He underestimates the intellect of his readers. His major fault, however, is over-elaboration and particularly when it is so unnecessary. Anyone taking up the career of biology would be best advised to avoid this book. The author's communication skill is appalling. How anyone could find the book interesting is beyond my comprehension. It almost slayed my interest in biology. On reading it, it became apparent why the used editions are low in price! My copy too will be added to this heap.

It is the Bible as far as I am concerned. Critically, in places it shows its age, but generally you will not get a better book on Bee Keeping.

I thought I might just comment on the content of the book:
This book tells you how to kill, slaughter, and cut up your meat, and a bit on preparation (curing / salting etc).
I had hoped it would have more on the "butchery" aspects, i.e. cutting up & preparing the meat / processing etc. I'd just bought a fore-quarter from the butcher and I bought this book to help me cut it up, and it wasn't exactly what I was after.
I tend to buy pork / lamb by the half animal (much cheaper) and I was hoping this book would teach me to cut it up myself. I think i'll have to try another book with more space devoted to this sort of info.
Note that its American written so some of the cuts are different to what we're used to ... Read More:

If you've just been diagnosed check out other books BEFORE you buy this one. This is a great book but it's quite complex and off-putting by the sheer size alone.
There are 3 parts to the book (with 12 chapters in total): nutritional healing for PCOS, tackling your problems and prepare for success.
Whilst it is a great book my life wouldn't have been missing anything if I hadn't have bought it. The appendix is extremely useful as it summarises a lot of information that is available on the internet. Likewise, the suggested reading also provides useful material.
