A great nostalgic read. Perfect for the 40 somethings who can recall many of the events featured in the articles which were written in the 70s. It will jog your memory to forgotten bands, such as Snafu. I can remember them playing the Ipswich Gaumont around 1975. Living in Suffolk, I still find it hard to believe that John is not around, I used to see him accommpanying Sheila to matches at Portman Road on occasions. Such a great man.

One of the most original cookbooks I've bought in a long time! Leon: Ingredients and Recipes is an absolute delight, both in terms of its recipes, which are healthy and utterly seductive, but also (and perhaps more so), it's design concept, which imaginatively reinterprets that of the Leon eateries. With its interactive pull-out elements, retro motifs, and quirky styling, it is, quite simply, the best fun you can have with a cookbook, without it actually being edible.
Heartily recommend for fans, and for those, like me, for whom the book was the inspiration for a first visit. >>More Details |

I own a complete set of MATT's books and we buy the TELEGRAPH on Saturday.

I loved letterland and so did my daughter and I taught her the letters using their reading cards and CD (both of which I highly recommed). However, now that my daughter has started Reception I was looking for something else to stimulate her writing as well as her reading, which is coming along very nicely. After reading such positive comments on this Jolly Phonics product, I bought it and it just so happens that it is the same method they are using at her school to teach them the letter. She loves it as she recognises it all. A good way to complement at home, what she's learning at school. Don't get me wrong; this is a great read. The atmosphere created by the author really makes you feel as though you're stuck in a Tudor monastery in the middle of a blizzard yourself....and you feel as though you need to continue with the book because of this.
Sadly I feel that it's over long and drawn out. 420 pages could have been trimmed down easily without losing any of the main plot. One other thing....I found it difficult to follow the plot when all of the main suspects are called Brother something. >>More Details |

This was on show at the Good Food Show last week beside the original - Maw Broon's Cookbook. Same kind of nostalgic appeal - days oot ! Cookin' the catch o' the day, some really basic stuff too. Recipes not as old as the first cookbook perhaps, but real Broons humour and great memorabilia tucked in to the pages - a 'must-have' if you got Maw Broon's Cookbook. Compared with other cookbooks on the go this year, this is great value.

A wonderful little book. Has lift the flaps so the little ones can interact whilst you're reading the story. A simple story, but kept both my girls entertained again and again. They never seem to get bored of it. Solid and sturdy - excellent for toddlers and babies a like. You won't be disappointed.

If you were ever looking for a coffee table story of The Clash look no more. The stories and many of the photographs will be familiar to Clash fans but the book is none the worse for that.
The book is beautifully produced for the price, I think even at non Amazon prices the book would be a bargain. A little naughty to say that this is an autobiography created by all four band members seeing as Joe has not been around for some time, however it is a book that any Clash/punk aficionado will love. >>More Details |
