My dad bought this book for my 1 year old son. It's the best book he's got! The animals come alive in this book which he absolutely loves! I have bought a couple of these books for my friends' children and my son's little friends. The quality of this book is phenomenal. A definite winner as a present for any young child!

I bought this book for my six month old and she giggles whenever Boris comes to kiss her! The book is great for creating interaction and we never seem to tire of it, although i'm sometimes unsure of who enjoys it the most, my daughter or her dad!

Roald Dahl's voice is a delight. A refreshing change from the modern obsession for sound effects and other over-the-top techniques that, apparently, are added to capture a child's attention.
My two children listen to Dahl's audio CDs and read his books constantly. They enjoy many other styles of reading and story telling but I do believe Dahl has a special place in their hearts - and mine!

I thought this book was cleverly written, from the view of a 9 year old boy - it is only because we have historical hindsight of the events that are being described by the boy, who does not understand, that the full story plays out in your imagination as the story unfolds.
I did not expect the story to end the way it did. I was gripped.

I just finished this in a day after having last read it years ago when it first came out. It isn't as good as the first or last book in my opinion but it's important for the trilogy.

I read this straight after re-reading the first in the trilogy, "Noughts & Crosses", and I found that that helped the understanding and enjoyment of "Knife Edge". I'm not sure why but I just remember not enjoying it as much the first time I read it. It might be because there's not much of a main plot in "Knife Edge".
This lovely picture book has fantastic quirky stylized pictures, with an endearingly quirky story to match. The boy finds an old fashioned aeroplane, there's a good sequence of illustrations as he dons flying helmet, jacket and goggles, and then off he flies until he runs out of petrol at the moon. As he begins to get lonely and afraid, a delightful little green alien becomes stuck on the moon with engine failure and they become friends. There's another lovely sequence of illustrations as the two marooned explorers think together about how to get them both back home, and they then succeed in a rather foolish and surreal but amusing fashion. Then just as you think the story is finished you turn over to the very last page and there's an extra smile for the reader, ... Read More:

This book is quite light-hearted, and as another review says, probably contains everything you need to pass- get a C grade. It doesn't, however, contain the information i would personally say you need for the A*-B Therefore is better for foundation. I have now bought the York Notes revision book, which is much better for higher grades!!!
