I've been using Lonely Planet for all my previous trips and they've been alright aside from few occasions when they screwed me over with their outdated or completely wrong information. Don't look for much information in them anyways as long as they get me to bus stations and cheap hotels. More importantly, every one of my LP lasted without single page missing after months of being thrown around and getting soaked with water, beer, and whatelse. When few pages start falling off the book few hours after purchase it is a bad quality book. Especially when it is a travel guide! And that's what happened to this book even before the journey started, and for that this book fails as a travel guide!
The information in this Rough Guide seems to be ... Read More:

If you are planning to take a trip on the Trans-Siberian, Trans-Mongolian or Trans-Manchurian railway, I URGE you to purchase this book! I cannot express how invaluable this book was to me during my trip.
The book contains a wealth of important information. It helps you to book your trip with suggestions of companies to go through as well as informing you of any complications that may arise such as visas, vaccinations. It has a stop-by-stop guide of the entire length of the railway for all 3 journies as well as kilometre markings and places of interest along the route outside of stops, for photo opportunities and such.
Inside of stops, for the bigger towns along the way it contains a map (very valuable) marking out places ... Read More:

What a great book! It makes you want to become a biker and set off right away. Some great images of the most amazing places and observant and humorous language.

This is the best camping book EVER!! I planned my holiday this year using it and I can honestly say that my family and I had the best holiday ever. We stayed in 3 different campsites and all of them were excellent!
We bought the book for some friends who were travelling around europe and they stayed in quite a lot of the sites - they did say that not all of them were 'fabulous' but alot were (especially La Ferme in the Alps which is our 2009 holiday).

We were recommended this book by a friend. After having a quick look at their edition, we decided we needed one for ourselves.
Our first walk we did backwards (which made it slightly difficult) but we eventually got there. Not really recommended unless your book is up to date, have a compass, torch and a good sense of direction! There are also some paths where you do need to be alert for traffic but apart from that the walks are well worth it.
Instructions are detailed. Great idea for those who enjoy the country and learning a bit more about it.
