If herself is sitting there with her thumb up her Jane Austen ("Sense & Prejudice" or somesuch), she'll elbow you in the ribs for laughing until both sides ache, but one much more than the other. It is not just one of the funniest books you'll read, it is also fascinating to see his style develop. The examples are in chronological order covering semi-defined periods of his life and you can see how he develops ideas and structures. The piece about Leonardo da Vinci is sheer genius and, as with others, would have made a wonderful TV sketch. What a loss to us, but God must be wetting himself.

Every time I fall into the 'Autobiography' trap, I swear I will never be caught again. Just because someone has led an interesting/extraordinary life, it does not follow that they can share this with us in writing! Craig Revel Horwood's book illustrates the point. Dreary, dull, lifeless writing. Craig.....you needed a ghost writer, or at the very least a crash course in creative writing!
I think my title says it all, this episode 5 of Chronicles of Ancient Darkness is classic for 21st Century. At present pricing, the six disc set at less then £10 delivered, is very good value. Unlike other Audio CDs the packaging is well made and lends itself to repetative listening. The story is very well read with full character voices. I must say this story is getting quite 'dark' now, so some Parents may wish to sample it first. That said, I believe Adults and children will really enjoy it. Enjoy!

I read Frank's autobiography last year and loved it so was excited to find out he had a second one coming out. Really interesting read, following him on tour, and finding out about how he makes people (including me!)laugh. I've got the new DVD too which he talks about in this book! Both ace!

A nice hardback, with a good feel to the paper and binding. And this is just the kind of book you would want in hardback, as you will probably dip in for many years to come.
These are rather spare, often unconnected musings. Unconnected in the sense that, unlike in his "Waterlog" or "Wildwood", there is no particular theme. But as he is a pretty holistic person, there are links and mental ley-lines all over the place, so the musings flow into each other smoothly, like water off a spinning ball. It is nice to see the links to his other books: swimming in the moat, memories of Kyrgyzystan.
After water and wood I find myself looking for the third leg of a trilogy, a common theme. That is not there. He comes back to water, and to wood, and ... Read More:

Love Martin Clunes, love dogs, loved his recent documentary about dogs - so all good. This book does tally with the tv programme about history of dogs but the bits I actually enjoyed best are his own personal history with dogs and his present day trials, tribulations and joys with them. Just one thing - I'd love to know how Mary is these days.

This annual is great for little fans of Charlie and Lola. There are games to play on rainy days, and plenty of stickers. Some cute little stories in there too.
All I would say is don't let your child play with it in their bedroom, I am still finding stickers stuck everywhere!

Enjoyed this book from start to end. The type of book to have by your bedside at night. Will pass to my children when slightly older....The author introduced me in to the wonderful world of nursery rhymes.
When I purchased this book, Amazon recomended buying "Now Then Lad"!! This also is a fantastic read.

There are many histories written about the Dams raid where you can glean the clinical facts - and there was the film ... but there's nothing like oral history to engage the imagination and bring you close to the people who were there. The Dambusters, far from being 'gung-ho' come over as men of enormous skill, courage and resourcefulness, with a strong camaraderie among the crews. Their own words ring true - some readily admit that Gibson wasn't universally popular - but none doubted his resolve and courage. The crews trained to the increasingly exacting demands by the designer of the new bomb - they recall hair-raising flying at just 60 feet, honing their bombing accuracy - and their accounts build the tension until, on the day of the raid, they learn ...
