...I'm a feminist and I have loved this book for years. As Mr O'Rourke says, 'We are all bachelors now, strangers in a home we never made.' I don't know what I love most about it. The 'decorating with alcohol' pictures? ('Take a big drink. See, it looks better already!') The recipe for emergency Bloody Mary mix? The advice how to get your date to cook dinner? This book is light on anything new or useful. If you are the slightest bit aware of green or eco issues you will know more than this book will ever impart to you.

This is an excellent book to have, it covers all sorts of hints for the home and garden, everyone will be able to find solutions to problems using basic products like bicarbinate of soda, vinegar, salt,toothpaste,foil etc. It is a book in its own right, but also a good follow up to their last one. It is well laid out with the sections divided into areas such as kitchen,removing dirt underfoot, walls and windows etc., with an 'Easy to Find Index' at the back. The only criticism is that because this is an american book the products used aren't all listed in the 'Glossary of Terms', so you have to take an educated guess.
