Having read similar books (Zimmermen/Rain men) I was keen to step into the troubles of a cricket team - as a player of some 20+ years and now into my 40s, increasingly the trials and stresses of running a cricket team are widespread - which makes this book a joy.
Since finishing it I've recommended it to fellow players, workers and family. When asked by a fellow player if i'd cried at the end as he had when reading, the rest of the changing room laughed - although I doubt if anyone in that room, or elsewhere could hold back the tears as the final couple of chapters bring the party to an end - someone simply pulled the plug on the stereo and told everyone to go home. I'm just glad I'd stopped short of that last chapter during my lunch ... Read More:

This is a wonderful and beautifully presented series. I highly recommend it. Although some of Peanuts comedy has dated, the vast majority is still as sweet and charming as ever. If you love Calvin and Hobbes, this where it all began. A joyous collection.

The intricacy, layout and artistry of this book is amazing. My children (5 and 2) absolutely love it although they do need to be reminded to be careful of the popups but so far it's survived many readings and curious fingers. Absolutely recommended, especially as a gift.

In a world where most people don't give each other the time of day it is great to see groups of strangers giving two random men time for a sit down and a talk with their name being the only thing they have in common.
I read this book in a day while waiting for my plane to arrive and found myself close to tears at points because it was so funny. The idea of travelling around the world to meet people with the same name as you, its briliant and I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first.
I also enjoyed the way the book is written by both Dave and Danny and you get both of their sides on everything, it's funny to hear that Danny is the voice of reason in this book even though I've read Join Me which is equally good if not ... Read More:

Loved this book, told in Miles' inimitable style. It is laugh out loud funny, but also deeply moving with some excellent humourous observations along the way. Buy it - you won't be disappointed.

What can I say, If you know the Broons or Oor Wullie then you already know everything you need to know about this book. It has the same excellent characters, quality cartoons and humour of the other books and is well worth the read.
If you haven't read them, then do it now and enjoy the Scottish humour.

I am also sceptical about books of this nature, because there is always a danger of the author (no matter their intentions) to reuse stories from previous authors that were poorly researched, or just plane wrong. This author has unfortunately fallen into this trap and even though this is an entertaining read, some of the explanations of the phrases covered in this book are wrong. For example, the Dodo did not become extinct due to their meat being eaten by hungry sailors. This theory was disproved by historians who did some proper research and read the journals of sailors who actually tried to eat Dodo meat where it was described as being of bad taste and tough. This is not the only error and even when the author does give multiple examples of the possible ... Read More:
