This is an excellent resource for anyone working with children and young people!! As a newly qualified social worker, in the children and family field, I was looking for practical resources and this book has more than met my expectations. Colleagues have also proffered the opinion that they have found the sheets a boon with the children/young people they work with. The worksheets are great and the on-line resources were an added bonus - extra worksheets designed specifically for computer literate young people which can be saved on floppy disc. CBT materials are very difficult to locate, but this book more than makes up for the lack of resources elsewhere. The author deserves a medal!!

I found this book extremely useful in my preparation for GPST Stage 2. The book is entirely focussed on single best answer MCQs and covers all the important topics. This makes it ideal to revise in a systematic and thorough manner. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do some serious revision and be at the top of their game.

I am a great fan of the Oxford Handbook series, although the OCHM is a difficult act to follow. I am sure the content of the OHP is good, if you can find it. I have to agree with a previous reviewer about the poor indexing of this book. Look for 'reflexes' in the index and you'll be directed to a page about the patellar reflex, but not the primitive reflexes (there's a separate entry for them). There are many other instances where something has not been in the index but I have eventually found it in the book by leafing through the pages. Improve the index and this would be a good book. I am surprised that the UK Growth charts, or at least and example of them (apart from the BMI one) were not in the book. Maybe they are and I just haven't been able to find them yet.

I am a master's student working in the cancer bioscience area of R & D. This book is excellent in all respects and I highly recommend it. I have seen other publications from this author in scientific journals and all are well written and informative and he has a very good reputation among scientists in the field. Chapters are intuitively structured and complete - figures are clear and enhance the text and the CD ROM has some great features including key figures in ppt format and audio lectures on specifics such as P53, metastases and molecular therapies. If you are starting out don't be put off by the depth of this book it takes you through the concepts in a clear and structured manor. I wish I had this book 3 years ago!!

This book, on the surface, appears to be very good. However, as a 3rd year student midwife and currently studying for my obstetric emergencies VIVA, I have noticed that there a errors in drug dosages e.g. page 433 which is referring to eclampsia, it states that the woman should be given a loading dose of magnesium sulphate of 4mg IV. This is a blatant error as it should be 4g. Imagine my horror to think that this book went to press with errors of this magnitude that could have an adverse effect on maternal otcomes. In my view this edition should be withdrawn from all outlets before any damage is caused as a result!!!!!

This is a wildly profound book written with intelligence and humour.
It's as much about how we think and learn as about brain washing. Whenever I found myself limiting my thoughts to rigid templated thinking Taylor would throw in a mental curve to derail my own unconscious beliefs. Simply a wonderful book, an understanding of this subject is as important now as it has ever been. Quite frankly KT's FACET approach to thinking should be lesson 101 for school children and adults alike. You won't be disappointed by this book. This is a very interesting and readable title which I feel has to be a must for physiotherapy students. Each chapter holds a wealth of information which is clearly written, is easy to understand and is relevant to undergraduate physiotherapy studies. Specific chapters within the book stand out which are especially interesting and well worth a read. Peripheral nerve Lesions by R Birch et al gives a clear understanding of manangement for those first encountering peripheral nerve lesions. Specific treatment techniques contributed by J Jackson provides and concise and excellent overview of the techniques and skills available to physiotherapists with neurology.
