The previous reviewer seems to be referring to another CD by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This CD set has 4 CD's, Bodyscan Meditation, Mindful Yoga, Sitting Meditation and Mindful Yoga 2. This CD forms the basis of the 8 week Mindfulness course developed by Jon Kabat Zinn and adapted by Mark Williams and others to run in the UK. The Bodyscan and the Sitting Meditation are the ones I use the most so far they form the bedrock for Mindfulness as put forward by Jon Kabat Zinn. I use them regularly and learn something about myself and Mindfulness every time I listen to the CD's. Jon Kabat-Zinn is the best teacher of Mindfulness I have found he talks total sense backed up by a scientific background and years of running courses on Mindfulness in hospitals and medical ... I whole heartedly agree with the previous reviewers..this book too has profoundly changed my life ! I have read quite a few self help books but Katie I have found is the only one so far that puts things in a real simple and down to earth manner. Not some airy fairy spiritual thing...the only way really for people to gain clarity over their seemingly negative ways is to discover the truth for themselves and this she does so brilliantly. I found The Power Of Now life transforming, this goes even beyond that..for those who still don't quite "get it" with the likes of Tolle, Dwyer, Virtue and so many others, including Law of Attraction books, they should definately give this book a go. I am also in the process of ordering her other books. She is truly ... Read More:

I defy even Scrooge (or Mr T's harshest critic) not to raise a smile with this one. Jane Austen and J M Barrie would be proud. Well possibly! A mixture of traditional Xmas stories and songs, with some of the funniest 'versions' of popular literature and panto. Some of it is lucky to be in print! If you have a sense of humour, this is most definitely for you.

I've read this book four times and what still strikes me is Marshall Rosenberg's assertion that we are always trying to meet our basic human needs. I've been trying to relate to myself and other people in this way now for several years, and I've found that I really am more deeply connected with myself, my partner, my children and the people around me. I'm still working on the language part.

Just get it. It'll cost you a penny second hand, and it's well worth it. I mean just look at the fact there are 38 reviews to it's name!
But beware, he's going to talk about God. That's right, a psychotherapist talking about God. He only does so however in the last section and by then you've got enough benefit from it to throw it away with a smile and no resentment, no matter how hardened an atheist you are.
I have been interested in Buddhism and meditation for many years and have been waiting all that time for a book that is a true 'nuts and bolts' manual of how to meditate. This is the first book I have found that I can totally recommend. It covers the subject with honesty, humour and an amazing level of clarity. For a beginner or experienced meditator, there is no better book that I have seen.
Also, the author has integrity and comes from the traditional Theravada school of Buddhism - beware that there are quite a few dodgy modern 'schools' that use the name of Buddhism in vain. If you are new to Buddhism, I strongly recommend the Theravada school (e.g. Amaravati monastery in the UK).
after reading all the reviews about this book, i have to say i was expecting more. in my opinion, it read more like a long article about how to cope with twins.
i raced through it in one afternoon, and although there are some very pertinent tips on coping with twins, i was disappointed there wasn't more about possible medical complications and questions to ask.
good first book to read (to ease you in maybe) but might be better when teamed with a book that has hard and fast medical facts.

Wow!! This book has totally altered the way I think about life. I know that we all have a story to tell, and sometimes, things just seem so hard, and you feel like you have it worse than anyone else. May be you do, but reading this book just totally turns you around. It offers so much. It restores your faith in other people, trite I know, but it really does. It gives you courage and strength to carry on, even when things seem SO bad. I found it to be totally life-affirming, completely inspiring, and very comforting. I cried so many times during the book, so moved by the stories. I had heard about this book, and dismissed it as being over-emotional without ever reading it. I am so glad that I put my prejudice behind me, and finally read it. It is hard to do it justice by writing about ... Read More:
