I was drawn to this book having read the chapter about it in Tom Butler-Bowdon's 50 Psychology Classics. I had never heard of 'positive psychology' before, but its aims - to increase the happiness of 'normal' people, rather than cure the psychoses of 'ill' people - has definite appeal.
Authentic Happiness suggests that happiness should not just be a goal in itself merely because it makes us feel good - but also that it has an evolutionary advantage. I've long been aware of the way in which as negative mood can aid evaluation of a situation, but I'd never thought that when we are happy we would have the advantages of creating an expansive, tolerant and creative mindset. In short these positive feelings maximise the social, intellectual ... Read More:

I thought this book was thoroughly enjoyable, very informative. I liked the foot notes, it was a humorous way to conclude each entry. I found it easy to read and it didn't get bogged down on lots of technical phrases.
This is just a quick thumbs up for the previous two reviews which sum up the book nicely. There is much food for thought and plenty of information for further reading. Some of the most interesting aspects for me were the descriptions of the ancient structures found in the pacific ocean. Undoubtedly the remnants of the lost civilisation of Lemuria that the inhabitants of Hawaii, South America and other pacific islands claim to have descended from in their 'myths'.

Its very hard to not give good reviews on a Bruce Lee book. Finding someone who dosent admire his work is nearly impossible. So in saying that this book is one of the best ever produced on martial arts might be hard to beleive for some.BUT IT IS!! it gives a clear description of each phase of combat (close quarter, punching, kicking, grappling etc) and also gives description and quality content on each. Be aware that this book is aimed for street self defence and not for competition type fighting, so expect to find "dirty" fighting techniques included. With great writing and excellent hand drawn pictures demonstrating techniques this book is a serious must for EVERY martial artist.!!

This book is a useful guide to the basics of energy healing - talking about the human energy field, auras, chakras, the causes of illness, etc, and doing so in a clear, easy to understand way.
When it gets to the energy work, and in particular, the act of healing and seeing, it seems to imply that there is only one way of doing it. But the visions that we each of us see when we heal are different, depending on the individual and the sorts of symbols that have meaning for each one. Indeed, some healers don't see anything at all, but work entirely from intuitive feeling, for example.
My feeling on this book is that it is a useful resource, but that we each need to trust the information and intuitions that we receive ourselves, in order to ... Read More:

My husband and I attend his service every Sunday in Houston, and will not miss one for any reason. He is such an inspiration to all walks of life. We see young men who by all accounts have a look of gangmembers, carrying their bibles. We have Jewish members, and catholic visitors. Pastor Joel has turned the light on to what the Word Of God really means, in words we can understand, finally. These books contain the same messages and easy to read. Its our "other" Bible. And he is such a nice young man, gentle and calming. Meeting him was an absolute pleasure.
On reading these books you will turn your life around completely. I have handed out around 11 of his fist book to friends in crisis and need. What it did for them was awsome. Read and Become a Better ... Read More:

I liked this book. I'm a counselling student and got it as it was recommended to me by my mentor for part of the course. It's good but I feel you need to have knowledge of that area first or else it won't be easily taken in. It was good for me and helped me put some things into better perspective which I'm studying thesedays.
One thing I really didn't like though was that it doesn't make any references to other work in the book. So it's just as if the author is writing all this from nothing in some ways. I feel it would actually add credibility if it was constantly referring to theories etc and other ideas to make it more grounded. That was something about it which bothered me.
I found this to be an extremely well written, highly respectful and totally convincing argument in favour of God's existence. Moreover, it demonstrates that science and religious belief are entirely compatible. Evolution and God? Yes!

I am studying crystal healing and own this book. It is written by the same woman who wrote "The Crystal Bible" so they compliment each other well. Crystal prescriptions is excellent becuase you can look up an illness or complaint and find a list of crystals that can be used for it - rather than most crystal books which given you the crystals and a list of uses. It is also written so that a crystal healer or a complete beginner can use it for reference. A must have for anyone interested in home crystal remedies.
