This had some interesting bits, and the author has clearly read very widely. However, it turns into a series of GCSE-type summaries of the thought of "famous religious thinkers through the ages".

This is a book that just repeats what we already know.
I don't see how this book can benefit anyone older than 14. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this book, but it does make good reading. However the exercises in the book are invovling and it is not lecturous, but it has a more friendly open dialogue. This is an excellent book for those who would like the basic issues set out in a way that is accessible. Yes it is not a thesis but I don't think the author intended it to be so - I have plenty of books I can go to to support his arguments in more depth and who argue both sides and look at objections in depth.
But I bought this book as an access way to these issues for young Christians or those who are searching. And that it exactly what it does. >>More Details |

For many years Millman's books have been among my favorites. This is a first in a Trilogy that includes Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior and The Journey of Socrates. Millman himself went though an incredible story, from injury back to Olympic athlete and from those events has created a series of books to help bring out the best in other people. Any of Millman's books are great tools for personal growth.

This book is brilliant. An easy read, broken into digestible chapters, this book will give Christians lacking confidence to live more actively for God (the majority of us in truth!), the boost they need. You will breathe sigh's of relief as you realise that you don't need to be a supersonic Christian, but simply walk as you are, trusting God will do the rest if you focus on Him. Ortberg is fantastic at making you feel refreshed and encouraged, challenging where you need it, but affirming you too. This is beautifully crafted and will leave you with a burden off your shoulders and a desire to Get out the Boat and walk :)
