If I was judging this book purely on the underwater photographs, I would have no hesitation in awarding a 5 Star rating. Without that standard of photography, the book would not have received any stars at all.
I ordered this book because I needed to know more about certain areas of the Egyptian Red Sea I was due to visit. Since then, I have conducted professional assignments to three different regions and each time I found the book to be of limited value. This is purely a reference book and, with 52 pages devoted to the principle sites of Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Eritrea combined and a full 64 pages devoted to Egypt, I began to wonder about how much original information I would find in this book... The answer was ... Read More:

Ive just discovered this series of guides and they are great. The accurate maps help with planning and orientation of dive - not to mention a more pleasing depiction in my log book than my poor efforts usually are. Love the combo of being able to fill in my dive details with nice pics and info relating to the site. Pack contained all top dives in the area - top buy.

This book was a disappointment after having read several glowing reviews. It consists of several bite-sized short stories, mostly containing little or no substance relating to diving. Instead, it features mainly on getting drunk in various exotic locations and the personalities in those locations. For me, the author comes across as somewhat unlikeable. It isn't an entirely bad read; the light content and the small, occasionally amusing stories make it as easy to pick up as it is to put down.

I was certified by BSAC in 1974. No organization rivals the BSAC as the more demanding in training and technical knowledge about diving. No diving teaching institution will ever reach them because BSAC objective lays in you diving safely. You are properly trained by people who are your club mates and they are interested no in charging you by the hour but in you learning and develop skills. Others diving instruction organizations are more interested in selling diving equipment that you being a knowledgeable and safe diver.
This book is a photograph of what I have written.
Thanks for your time and patience and forgive my bad English.

This book is arranged into the global areas of; Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red Sea/Indian Ocean and Pacific. On first examination, however, I found the book to be a compilation of very disappointing books previously published by White Star Publishing of Italy. Now that those individual books have come together in a larger format under a single title, the results are even more disappointing.
It must be said that most of the photographs are stunning - but that is all! The artwork is poor and neither imaginative nor accurate. Not only has shipwreck artwork moved on since these images were first published in other titles - many, many years ago, but the wrecks themselves have also changed during that time. I am disappointed that no effort ... Read More:

This is just an absolutely compelling book - one that I really couldn't put down. It has a lot of the story of Pipins life and how he grew up under Castro's regime but still managed to find his purpose in life. And then how he met Audrey and the knowing at once that each had found their soulmate. If you feel anything of the passion for the sea you will understand the lure of freediving and why they had to push to the limit. Read it - highly recommended.
