In short the best "prison hell" book you can buy. Packed full of incident and detail. The author does not portray himself as some poor victim but simply concentrates on his experiences of the Venezuela prison system. Do not hesitate to buy this book.

Few people are really aware of what needs to be done at difficult times like this. The book is quite comprehensive, dealing with a wide range of issues that need to be done quickly versus those taking months. Its clear when you need to get professional advice, and when not.
I only bought this book ten days ago. Addictive reading, very simple and easy to read. I was going to friends last Friday night and thought no point in thinking any of this will be in place yet especially I hadn't listened to the CD. Arrived at my friends to be handed a very large glass of wine. I asked her for a glass of water, she did not comment just gave me it. I drank water, wine all night and left at feeling fine and remembering a very enjoyable night. I slept well and was up the next day feeling perfect. I did the same on the Saturday night. Long may this continue. I am going on 3 weeks holiday next week and intend taking the book and CD with me and I'm going to let you know how I get on on my return. Believe me the results just on last ... Read More:

A powerful insight into how hard life can be in the so called civilised world. There are no books that have changed me in the way this one has. Step through a photograph into the reality of life as a child without hope of escape. Very well written and thought provoking.

This book is so dull that it would actually be more interesting to watch it being pulped than to read it. Worse than that, it is wrong on several counts. Foot gets his dates wrong, claiming that Fabio Capello moves from Roma to Juventus "in the 2003-4 close season." He is a year early. Historians getting dates wrong are like bakers who can't make bread, though I might have forgiven him that if there hadn't been so much else wrong with the book.
More disturbingly, his treatment of important events such as the Heysel disaster is highly unsatisfactory. He fails to highlight the missed warnings - Brussels newspaper Le Soir warned of an "apocalypse" on the morning of the match. He fails to point out that Brussels Fire Chief Alain Gibson had warned that the ... Read More:

A heart breaking story of a child growing up in a violent and uncaring home. Charlie has the worst start in life possible. This book charts his life from childhood into adulthood dealing with the physical and mental challenges along the way.
A must read well worth it.
Lastly If only there was more Sophies in the world the world would be a far better place.

At first when I started to read Oroonoko, I was convinced I would not be able to get into the slow of the story. However almost as soon as I thought this, I found myself entralled by the story.
We follow the story of Oroonoko, an enslaved African who is madly in love with a young woman named Imoinda, for whom he would do anything. The story is filled with an enchanting storyline, a number of rich and wholesome characters, and some excellent descriptive writing throughout.
Though a fairly old book, written in the late 1600s, Oroonoko is definitly worth the read.

I'm in my first year of a photography degree and this is one of the recommended texts. Despite being released in the 70's it's still very relevant.
The book is essentially a series of essays by Sontag. It's value is that Sontag knows her subject extremely well and, with reference to the great photographers, has constructed her essays in a way that really make you contemplate what photography is all about. Sontag was not a photographer herself so it's not a book of technique; it's about the interpretation and appreciation of other's work. If you're new to photographic theory as I was/am it may very well make you feel quite ignorant, as if you don't even know what a photograph really is any more. However, that's the point; to make you think. This most ubiquitous ... Read More:

I am currently ten weeks into the Counselling Skills Level 2 certificate course and this book is proving to be invaluable. It pulls together all the threads of the course content we have covered so far in a fun and informative way, it's really easy to follow and understand. It takes you from the basics of counselling techniques through to more specialist themes such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is my area of interest. I refer to the book in every lesson now for hints and tips alongside the formal course guide.
My fellow students find the role play sessions difficult and sometimes stressful and this book sets out in clear terms how to start, structure and end the session, and gives constructive ideas for what works well or less well dependant on your style and the ... Read More:
