This book is a handy reference for the practitioner. The fifth edition has an international appeal with calculations and problems in SI units. Its a good read for advanced students as well.
There are a few inevitable mistakes and typos however this should not distract a keen reader who wants to master Foundation analysis and design. The MS-DOS programs supplied with the 5th edition are quite useful as well although I have only used a few of them.

This book tells you everything you need to know about soil from different types through to management. im a second year agriculture student and this book is absolutely invaluable, i couldnt have passed first year without it! it would be useful to both students and farmers alike as it covers both soil science and management issues! im sure it would also interest soil enthusiasts (im sure some people reading this review will fall into this category!). some of the topics covered include soil types, texture and structure, nutrients, cultivation and stocking, chemicals and erosion, to name a few!
