I got this book with some intention of trying to make a few of the recipes but I found that there is not a lot of instruction on the basics required. True, it gives you the ingredients but I would have hoped their would be more photos on the techniques of rolling and shaping, which actually adds to the presentation, especially for these little delights.
I have to admit that I do then to buy a few cook books just as "gastro-porn" in the sense that they are just as good to flick through and marvel at. The Nobu book is exactly like that.
If nothing else, it should give you a few more options to order next time in a Dim Sum restaurant.

Previously owned the 1999 edition, which I did not find as inspiring as the 2007 revised version. This is an excellent book, beautifully produced. The photography is absolutely superb - a joy to see. I now have a list of about 50 soups to make!! Best soup book on the market, by a long way.

This isn't what I was hoping for at all. The soups are all very fussy and the preparations are far from simple.
Firstly there's the ingredients: if you live in a city then this probably won't present a problem but, for the rest of us, a huge number of the exotic ingredients simply aren't stocked at the local supermarkets or delis, ruling the dish off the menu.
I was also disappointed to see the huge number of recipes that feature chilli peppers. Now I love chillis as much as anyone, but I was planning on using the book to create dishes for my family. With a young chilli-hating daughter, another huge swathe of the recipes are ruled out.
