The recommended sights and routes are conveniently presented in terms of what to see and how many days to spend doing it. Looks ideal for short trips to Oz.
For longer visits, you'll almost certainly want more recommendations than this has to offer.

The AA is trying to do things a little different here, with the 'magazine' section designed to avoid the dryness of other guidebooks' culture and history bits. All you need is here, but you do have to spend sometime getting to know the book. The maps are a good case of this. Inside front cover is rough guide to six sections of Berlin as covered in the guide and each section of the guide has map of its area. But much is on the border of three sections and so the guidebook makes things seem further than they are. Added to this is the lack of comparison across these six areas, so you have to do a lot of flipping about to see which is best to eat, for example.

I found this guide to be an excellent. OK, I did have a whole week, but would have found it just as useful had I only had a few days. I didn't in fact follow the suggestions for daily planning, but found the level of detail very useful. As for the recommendations, we ate in a couple of recommended places and they lived up to expectation, as did our Hotel, also recommended - although I'd booked it before buying the book. It's helpful to have the different areas of Florence so well defined and the maps are good. And since we also visited Pisa and Sienna, were also glad of the info provided for those cities.
