I didn't think the book was going to be as awful as it turned out to be, because the first few pages were alright. But, honestly, it was a pile of rubbish.
I threw my copy out so that no one would ever have to read that garbage again!

This book of daily devotions contains unpublished and published works including selections from The Sermon On The Mount and The Power Of Constructive Thinking. There are poems, prayers, scriptural passages and their exegesis. The theme is personal transformation and the practice of the presence of God. The main theme is that there exists a power that can liberate the captive and transform one's life for the better. This power of being is the Kingdom of God within (Luke 17:21), the power indwelling in consciousness. It is the invitation of Psalm 55:22 - Cast your burden upon the Lord.
The text begins with an explanation of Isaiah 9:6, the attributes of God as Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. ... Read More:

A brilliant novel by a brilliant author - don't let the "this is her first novel" scare you! Julie writes as if she's been writing professional for years! :) This is a realistic novel of romance and faith and balanced equally. You will not be disappointed, believe me.

I was disappointed that this story was rather ham-fisted in its zeal for promoting a Christian Message. I was particularly disturbed by the portrayal of a psychologist as an archetypal "mad-scientist". However, it is fun and a welcome relief from the talking animals.

This is an amazing book, I may not even have been born without the helpful revelations of this book, and now, 25 years later, I still get a tingle of joy when looking over my mother's shoulder to read her daily devotional with her. It is amazing how often the daily bible verses speak directly into your current situation. Such is the power of the Word of God.
I would recommend copies of the original KJV Daily Light too for additional depth and scriptural understanding.

I use this book to try to make sense out of life stresses. It's a small
pocket book, nicely printed. There's one page corresponding to each
day of the year. Each page starts with a quote from diverse folks:
Einstein, Twain, Thoreau, Shakespeare, Woody Allen, etc. Then there's
a small essay about a way to approach the day. In some ways,
it's a supplement or even a substitute father, making
gentle suggestions about the ways
that the world works, and good ways to encounter and
appreciate it.

Missionary work in Africa was the most difficult and faith affirming work James Graham had ever faced, and warm, homey presents from a Good Samaritan back home gave him the hope he needed to carry on. But an injury brought his work to a sudden half and sent him home to Chicago.
There, James met the woman who'd sent those thoughtful gifts, the charming Rachel Ashcroft, and he was intrigued by the shadow of sadness that haunted her expression. Bringing the light of happiness back to Rachel's lovely face gave new purpose to his life, but was this only a temporary respite? Or would James be able to release his past and open his heart to recieve the gift of Rachel's love?

I would only consider buying this book if you already own a conventionally-laid out bible, since it is not really suitable as a primary reference book (although it does have a brief index, should you wish to use it as such).
However, as a means for getting into a discipline of daily bible reading, I think it's fantastic. Although it might seem extravagent to buy a chopped-up version of a book you probably already own, I've found that not having to fumble with turning up several different passages each day (and not being tempted to read more or less than the prescribed amount each day) makes a big difference to my motivation to keep going for the whole year.
A man goes through life trying to figure out what he wants from the past. In the end he finds out it is not neccessary to stay and live in the past, but in the future and present.
