Never have I read a book that has gone deeper into the human psyche. It reveals stark, unvarnished truths; it observes without condemnation; it is unflinching, poignant and powerful in its delivery; it is inspirational in its style. If a better book has been written then I'm yet to discover it. A must read for all who seek knowledge and understanding about the most complicated creatures in existence: ourselves.

bought this for my 6 year old cousin and i'm sure he'll adore it but just flicking through i happened to notice some clangers... like "current doctor... the ELEVENTH doctor" and "tardis - time and relative DIRECTION in space". shame about these typos, unsure if there are others. still a good buy though, a nice cheap present.

This book has everything you've probably come to expect from Le Carre - great characters, finely drawn, and a convuluted plot that twists and turns as well as anything that he's written before - but the ending jars. Or at least I thought it did until I considered it further. Having been delighted with the sheer poetic elegance of "Tinker Tailor," "Smiley's People," "The Perfect Spy" and "The Russia House," I felt somewhat uncomfortable with "The Tailor of Panama" and "The Constant Gardener." There seemed to me a discordant note in these later works. "The Tailor of Panama," though written with Le Carre's usual verve, was almost a farce, while "The Constant Gardener" was deeply disturbing. This latest offering, too, is disturbing and, at times, seems almost ... Read More:

Cooking for two is harder than you think. First of all, we don't mind splashing the cash for an eight people get together, or even a family sunday roast, but how much do you actually want to spend on you and your other half on a wednesday night.
This book will help you eat well and save money. The recipes are basic in terms of technique but never bland and boring.
Having read many books over the past 30 years on the secrets of composition, I found this to be the best by far. Michael Freeman explains in a series of short (but comprehensive) chapters precisely what makes a photograph work. The well-written text is supported by some wonderfully illustrative images. A book that has changed my photography for the better. Very highly recommended.

Travelled almost 400 miles to see Sir Roger and get the book signed at Waterstones in Castle Street, Norwich, then queued for around 2 hours where we were given raffle tickets to get in. The first 200 were guaranteed, and only 300 would be done. After being handed a set of ''rules" namely no pictures, no dedications, no talking, virtually no nothing we were regimented through the store and got all of what, 15 seconds whilst Sir Roger quickly scribbled and then onto the next without so much as looking up at us and roughly treated by the staff at Waterstones, Norwich. Pretty disappointing really as I had seen George Lazenby and he spent time chatting with you. The book is a good read, easy to get through - I'd read through the chapters on the Saint and the Persuaders in the ... Read More:

At first glance a lot of the information in this book seems like common sense but, as the authors explain, it is quite rare for us to act in these ways. We tend to act in ways that are harmful to ourselves and our relationships and this book goes some way to showing you how to break out of these past moulds and create new ways of behaving. It follows the basic 'dummies' format, with various icons, cartoons, clear headings and 'part of tens' at the back, so if you know the format you will know what to expect. This book introduces CBT, helps you spot errors in your thinking, helps you define problems and goals, focuses on a few specific problems (like OCD, anger and low self esteem), helps you move on from past events and overcome obstacles, looks at ways to maintain your progress ... I assure you that unless your father is John D. Rockefeller, you will certainly learn something new on the subject of handling people by reading this book!
Have you ever wanted to rationalize human interaction into a set of logical rules? Have you ever wandered how you can become better at it?
This is such an interesting subject, yet it's never taught to us in school. We are somehow expected to learn these skills by trial and error over tens of years. Why would anyone want to waste so much time when books like this are readily available?

Really disappointed with this, received this as a present and was looking forward to some traditional Carribean recipes. However, tipping half a bottle of shop bought sauce over some chicken isn't really my idea of cooking.
