Delia knows her cooking, however, she hasn't researched vegetarianism properly. She is using parmesan. All vegetarians know that parmesan is not vegetarian, so she should mention to use the substitute cheese. It is misleading new vegetarians into thinking parmesan is ok. That's why only 2 stars.
If one reads the recipes carefully and alter it accordingly then there are some very nice new ideas in this book..

Beware. Not everyone on a low carb diet will find these recipes particularly low carb. There are many that include onions and flour (both have a very high GI). But in it's favour there are no Americanisms in sight, and at least the dishes taste wonderful!

I bought this book knowing virtually nothing about bees (they exist, they live in hives and they make honey was about the sum total of my knowledge).
I have been considering keeping bees for a while and thought that a little reading would help guide me to a decision.
From memory, the book covers: types of bees (not just honey bees), types of hives, the gear required by the beekeeper, where bee hives can be situated, how bees can be purchased, the maintenance of the colony & hive, pests and how to mitigate their impact, the social structure of the bee colony, the way honey is produced by the bees, the 'swarming' of bees, how to harvest honey from the hive and how to store the harvested honey. There's definitely more - my memory just ... Read More:

This book is fabulous. Being a recently converted veggie to vegan due to my son's allergies I was struggling a bit, particularly with cakes and puddings. but WOW! the recipes in here are just superb.
the pancakes were to die for, I don't think I'll ever go back to the regular version. the macadamia blondies went within 24hrs of being made and the whole family has enjoyed "fronch" toast and so many of the other scrummy recipes in here.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting easy to make, tasty vegan food.

This was the first cookbook I ever bought and I have to say I was impressed. The recipes were simple and delicious and there was a great range from 5 minute snacks to more complicated dishes. My only critisism is that it's a little amateur. The pictures look a bit off-putting and sometimes the recipes are sligtly out of order. My advice would be don't be put off by the pictures - everything turns out delicious - and make sure you read each recipe through first and decide the order for yourself. But other than that, I would definately recommend this book. This book is perfect for any student (and most other cooking beginners too) and doesn't presume you know anything. It begins with telling you how to boil an egg. While some people will find that amusing, for some ... Read More:

I've never seen such tempting food on a book cover...I just longed to eat it at once! The recipes are all of a high standard, and the photography glorious. I have to admit that I have not warmed to the authors to anything like the same degree: their personal anecdotes seemed smug and self congratulatory, and I won't be booking a holiday with them! The excellent recipes are frequently fairly complex and time consuming, with many stages in each dish, and the book is probably one for the more experienced cook and not for a novice
