I found various things in this book very interesting and useful. Mainly the recipes using the blender and raw ingredient combinations, the cakes, bars and little extras section (all vegan), the banana bread recipe is really easy and delicious. Also contains interesting info regarding juicing for babies which I hadn't considered until I read this book.

When I get a new cookbook I tend to go through and put makeshift bookmarks at all the recipes I want to try...this book must hold the record for the most bookmarks!
...I'm yet to try any of them yet(therefore the 4 stars, rather than 5), but so far so good!

If I was only allowed to have one cookbook this would be the one. The recipes are consistent and reliable although perhaps a little more time-consuming than in some other cookbooks. The extra trouble is however well worth it: the dishes are delicious - interesting and subtle, with layers of different tastes. I have been making some of the recipes for years and yet nobody has got tired of them yet. For a while it seemed to be hard to get this book so it's nice to see that it is available again.

I've made plenty of dishes from this book and am almost always surprised by just how good a few simple ingredients can turn out. The main courses are a definite winner and I have greatly enjoyed the canned tomato soup (probably the best tomato soup I've ever eaten), dill soup and the porcini risotto...just a few store cupboard ingredients and you get amazing, delicious food. I've made almost all the recipes in the main course chapter and have not once been disappointed.
I was a little less impressed with the salad and accompanying vegetable sections, some of which turned out a little bland or ordinary...I really don't see what was the point of including a "tomato and onion salad" in the book - it is hardly a dish that requires a ... Read More:

I've bought lots through Amazon over the years and this is the first time I've felt strongly enough to write a review. I've no complaints about the information in this book, but I found the tone and style so offputting that I stopped reading after a couple of chapters and have given it away. Basically it felt like the author was making a lot of assumptions about my views just because I'm pregnant and a vegetarian (for example by speaking about the joys of creating life without taking life (i.e. eating meat)) and it made the book very annoying to read.
I guess I like the 'rough guide to pregnancy' style, which is peer-to-peer, modern, informative and amusing - in contrast this title felt like I'd gone back in time with traditional ... Read More:

I've recently been trying to cut down on my sugar intake and have fallen in love with agave nectar, but there aren't very many recipes or food blogs online that cook with it at all. I bought this book as soon as it was published and I absolutely love it! The book covers breakfast foods, cakes, cookies, pies, sweets, drinks, and a huge variety of sauces, which is exactly what those of us on sugar-free diets crave! I've made the Raspberry Linzer Torte cookies and granola already and both came out so well they disappeared in days. They definitely didn't taste like "health food"! The recipes which are vegan or gluten-free are also really well labelled and the photography is worthy of an M&S food ad! I really haven't been this excited about a cookbook ... Read More:
