As a nutritional therapist I have used this book as a 'healthy eating' cook book and it is excellent. If you are looking to treat your menopause symptoms with nutrition this is an excellent way to do it as the recipes are delicious and will appeal to everyone in the family, so you won't have to make different meals for different people (that's not usually the case with books aimed at specific conditions).

Every vegetable is available in a number of different varieties. But which varieties to choose? In the case of most veg, choosing is fairly simple and is fun; it usually takes a couple of evenings going through the seed catalogues when preparing next season's seed order. But potatoes are special. Knowing - really knowing - about the different varieties available, along with their strengths and weaknesses, is necessary, fascinating, fun, rewarding and strangely addictive. And of course this reseach really pays off come harvest time. The best way to learn about potatoes - the varieties available, their characteristics, the difference between 1st earlies, 2nd earlies, maincrop, the growing techniques, etc. - is to read this invaluable book. ... For those who think vegetarian equals deprivation, they need only pick up this book to find that meat is not always necessary for rich, delicious meals. Many of the recipes require only a few ingredients, and none are difficult to prepare, so this is excellent for those just beginning to cook or interested in trying out a meatless diet. Most definitely worth adding to any cookbook collection

The first book I read that explains the health benefits of veganism without falling into the moralistic view.
Packed with all you need if you are to make an informed choice, supported by real data, and be able to explain to others why you eat what you eat.

I really like this book and do find it inspirational. However, many many of the recipes just can't be made. They take too long, the ingredients are difficult to find or prohibitively expensive.
I still think this book is worth buying though for the remaining recipes that can be made. The cool smoothies, salads, juices and some of the cookies and sweets.

I absolutely love this book - it really is the best veggie cookbook I've ever come across!
All too often the angle is that if you're veggie you must be a) doing it to be healthy (in which case the recipe book neglects the gloriously calorific, cheesy, doughy stuff in favour of stiff, crunchy vegetables) or b) doing it and having difficulty (in which case you basically get fifty recipes for Shepherd's Pie except with quorn mince substitute).
It's not the book for you if you want millions of mouthwatering pictures, it's very wordy indeed - but personally I like that, and the advice given is so good it's a sure compensation. The author possibly likes the sound of her own voice a bit, mixing in family anecdotes and jokes with the informal ... Read More:

A very clearly presented and illustrated book explaining the basic principles of Ayurveda. The recipies are divided into three sections, so that having completed the 'self test' to discover your body type, you can then choose from over 70 delicious recipies. These include non vegetarian recipies, all of which are very simple to prepare from ingredients which are readily available. An excellent introduction to Ayurveda - 'the science of life'.
