This is a great series. I think this as as good as Silverfin and Hurricane Gold, I did not care for 'By Royal Command' much, it was boring in places. Duoble or Die was a great real life story, James is up to his old tricks and meets up with an old friend and again has a girl falling for him.

Not as good as Silverfin or By Royal command, but nevertheless a great young adult fiction novel. Charlie Higson was getting as good as Anthony Horowitz but it does not have the action, shame he has a great name to use. Why Flemming Productions did not use Anthony Horowitz is just crazy.

This is basically 2 Newspaper Christmas stories expanded and published for the fans. As a huge Cornwell & Sharpe fan I really wanted to read these, and was very glad I did. 2 very good stories full of Christmas spirit done in a way that only Sharpe can manage. OK, this is expensive for 2 short stories but a must have for all Sharpe fans, and the profits are for the Sharpe appreciation society and their charities, so was happy to pay for this.

Alison Weir shows yet again that she is a skilled novelist, this time taking on the complex and hazy story of Elizabeth Tudor's childhood and leading up to her accession.
Elizabeth, as depicted by Weir, is savvy, politically-minded and ambitious. She is also sometimes naive and all-too-human, especially in her dealings with Thomas Seymour. Seymour's behavior would now be properly referred to as molestation, and the sequences where he invades Elizabeth's space, and betrays his wife in the process, were vividly written - so vividly that I was almost uncomfortable. His fate was not an unwelcome one, and he could have taken Elizabeth down with him.
I continue to be fascinated by Tudor historical fiction, and by Elizabeth in particular. ... Read More:

I queued up for this book on the 15th of July 2005, and it was worth it. This book is definitely one of my favourite Harry Potters, along with COS, GOF and DH.
There was so much going on, unlike OOTP, and I loved all the memories and Dumbledore and Harry looking for the Horcruxes.
It was interesting to see how Malfoy's character developed from book one onwards, and I think that in this book in particular you see what he will become. I thought him being a death eater was a great idea, and I enjoyed reading about how he dealt with all the problems.
Also, I found Harry and Ginny's relationship a delight to read about; Ron's reaction was quite pleasing- as I was reading it I thought he would not allow Harry to go out with Ginny, but ... Read More:

Much better than her last offering Daughters of Fire. However, I did at times want to throttle the heroine for being a drip and constantly ignoring the advice of her friends.
Also this book was about 100 pages too long, and I ended up speed-reading the last third of the book.

A true epic in the making, 'Sea of Poppies' is a hefty saga in the same genre as 'War and Peace' and 'A Suitable Boy'. The Indian setting particularly reminds me of the latter, though I actually prefer 'Sea of Poppies'.
The first of a promised trilogy, the novel has a slow start as it introduces the many different characters and threads. It's only once you're halfway in that you begin to feel that you know the characters. They are a diverse group, in terms of social standing and cultural background, brought together by the sailing of a ship from northern India to Mauritius. Characterisation is generally good though there were a couple of characters that I found rather implausible.
This book is a great starter to the series that I am much looking forward to. To begin with I didn't quite understand the plot , but now I have finished it I am much looking forward to the next episode. I was so into the book at school one time that i forgot were I was until someone smashed my English book on the table! This is a great book for any Alex Rider fan to read.I will be looking forward to starting the second book soon. Well worth the MONEY!
