This is a rich smorgasbord of culinary writing from an acknowledged master of the subject. It consists of short chapters on all sorts of food subjects, some expected, less so, with a trademark emphasis on the politics of food. One shortcoming: some of the pieces feel rather dated - in quite a few cases things have moved on here in England at least - and, as far as I can see, no dates are given for when a piece was first written or published. For this reason, less than the full 5 stars.
