I have just finished this book and the end came all too soon. The author has rightly been compared to Rosamunde Pilcher as the tale is in a similar vein. As someone living just outside the Central Belt it was good to read something set in a familiar locality and with typical characters. More please!

This is a lovely cookbook, It's packed full of recipes featuring olive oil and olives, and it also provides a history of cooking with olives and a handy chart of different types of olives.
The book is divided into sections for appetizers, vegetarian dishes, seafood dishes, meaty dishes, sauces and desserts. I particularly like the variety of recipes for vinaigrettes, mayonnaises and marinades, and the recipe for "Lentils with Alphonso Olive Rouille" alone is worth the price of the book for me.
All the recipes I've tried from this book have turned out well, and some have become regular favorites. There's nothing too outlandish in here, the instructions are clear, the writing is friendly - and as an added bonus, ... Read More:

If - like me - it's been a few years since you bought a Shire publication, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by their new style of book. They have always managed to pack in a remarkable amount of information into a slim volume - and this continues to be the case - but in the past the design seems to have been rather low on the priority list, with cramped typography and mainly black an white illustrations. In this recent volume the design values have really been raised substantially. Adding a spine instead of wire staples makes the book feel much higher quality and the typography is really well laid out. The illustrations are colour throughout, and are mostly reproduced with care to a high standard.
This book isn't really about plants and ... Read More:

As someone who is aware of not eating nearly enough fruits and vegetables, I recently acquired a juicer and found this book excellent and truly motivating. It gives advice on every aspect of juicing, i.e. what to peel and what not to, when best to drink fruit juice and vegetable juice (to avoid wind and bloating) and advice on buying a juicer.
It is full of information on the health benefits (and there are many) of incorporating fresh juice into your diet along with nutritional information for each individual piece of fruit/veg. Once I had read the first few pages, I instantly wanted to begin juicing my way to a healthier lifestyle in order to achieve a 'Juice High' as the book title suggests.
