I just love this book! I was pretty new to juicing, smoothies and fresh herb teas before I bought this book. But now - I love it and this book definitely made it easy for me to learn. Reading about the medical use of different herbs, vegetables and fruit was very interesting for me. And the recipies - yes, some of the ingrediences can be difficult to find, but not impossible. And if you can not find them, just stick to the once you can find close to you. There are plenty of recipies to choose from in this book and they are easy to make. No problem with the measuring scale - there is both US and European scale and it's easy to work with. It's a shame this book doesn't have more advertising, so people would notice it - this book IS definitely worth ... Read More:

Whether you are new to gardening or a seasoned vegetable producer, this book is an invaluable reference. The first half covers the basics of vegetable growing: how to make seeds germinate, how to protect seedlings, pests identification, etc. with a mass of useful advice, even for the more advanced gardener. Then the second half covers each vegetable's cultivation: when to sow, spacing, pests and disease control (all organic!), cultivars, techniques for improving yields etc. I keep this book on the shelf nearest the garden and it is well used. My favourite book of all.

You won't need a juicer to appreciate this readable reference on juicing (and using) a variety of fruits and vegetables. A medical anthropologist and author of other books on the healing properties of foods, Dr. Heinerman now focuses on juicing. After you choose an ailment (or a fruit or a vegetable), you will respect Dr. Heinerman's scholarship in compiling the beneficial uses of juices. Each chapter on a juice (for instance, "Lettuce Juice") documents its botanical history, description, usage and nutritive values. The anecdotes and testimonials provide strong evidence for the therapeutic qualities of fruits and vegetables -- and their juices. Any juicer you buy will get you started with some good recipes, and this text will augment your ... Read More:

This is another of the books in the Sabat Series that has been carefully crafted by Llewellyn. Anna Franklin, an English author and witch, teams up with English artist Paul Mason to give us a book on the history and folklore of the holiday of Lammas or Lughnasa.
It seems right to have an English author give us the background of the holiday of Lammas, or Lughnasa, celebrated on August 1. It is indeed a very English/Irish holiday in origins. But, again, in reviewing the bibliography, along side some very noteworthy historical references are references to the author's own works and works done by other Llewellyn authors. However, in the case of this book, the historical references are noteworthy, and there are a few classic English/Irish authors, ... Read More:
