This is the best gardening book I have ever seen. I bought it as a gift for my parents but borrowed it so much I had to buy my own! And, who cares about the spelling!! (see Lord Manley review!)

As a huge fan of 'The Gourmet Gardener' by Bob Flowerdew, I ordered this book and it too would have received 5 stars from me because it also contains a wealth of useful information (e.g. advantages and disadvantages of different varieties, companion planting).
However, the more I read it in detail, the more frustrating it became. For example, the section on garlic listed just three varieties - Oz Garlic Rosea, Oz Garlic White and Aussie White - instead of referring to the four colour types of white, rose, violet and red and their differing characteristics. Similarly, the sections on both potatoes and apples referred to common varieties in Australia - which is not much use to me in Northern Europe! All became clear to me when I read ... Read More:

Natsuki Takaya hit manga gold with "Fruits Basket," a romantic/comic/fantasy story about one cursed family, and a girl who might be able to set them all free.
And this boxed set combines the first four volumes of the series, which also introduces many of the important characters -- not to mention the romantic comedy/dark angsty note of it all. The first volume is a bit wobbly, but this quirky, warmhearted little series gets its footing soon.
Orphaned Tohru Honda is living in a tent in the woods. But one day she bumps into the large house of school idol Yuki Sohma, and his older cousin Shigure -- and after a landslide buries her tent and most of her belongings, they take Tohru in as a housekeeper/cook. But when the volatile ... Read More:

I bought this book after having been converted to juicing by Amanda Hamilton. I was bored with the juices offered and wanted a bit more variety. But what I got in this book is so much more than expected. It has a great selection and all I have tried have been delicious but the vitamin breakdown, advice on particular ailments etc set this book apart.
Plus in answer to one of the other reviewers - yes I have seen real health benefits from juicing. Just from replacing breakfast with a juice, I lost tons of weight without feeling hungry, my skin has never been so healthy and other irritating things I thought I would just have to live with have disappeared.

For a couple of years I've toyed with the idea of making a vegetable garden. Problem is I don't really like that much "proper" vegetable gardens because if they are not perfect they are not pleasant to the eye. Last year I gave it a try, planting some tomatoes and caulifowers here and there in my flowerbeds and decided to give it a try BUT do it my way. This book showed me that there is a way to planting whatever you want to and don't have to hide it at the bottom of your garden (incidentally, my garden has no bottom, neither is big enough). Now I am full of ideas and, most important, it is not going to be a case of trial and error like last year.
It doesn't explain everything though. There is no such thing as "the final book" about anything. ... Read More:
