I love this little book and its small enough to carry around (why do cookbooks have to be so big). An ideal book for a vegan beginner or those of love western style comfort foods (which I do!).
"In the Kitch" shows that you can have your vegan cake and eat it with recipes such as Cheezy Cream of Broccoli Soup, Potato and Pumpkin Curry, Stuffed Shells with Red or White Sauce, Dream Bars, Fresh Fruit Crumble, and Hot Fudge Brownie Sundaes
There are more international recipes too such as Pad Thai and Japanese Soba Noodles with Steamed Vegetables and Tofu. No pictures but some funny ass girl talk between sections which I loved.

Let's face it, cupcakes are cute :o) and this is the cutest recipe book in the world! Best of all, all the recipes are animal friendly! Whoopie!
Every single recipe in this book is creative and look (and taste!) divine! The photography is beautiful and makes you want to have the real thing in front of you immediately, the most inspiring cook book ever!
As mentioned by others, the measurement are American, but once you have the equipment (buy some measuring cups today!) I find the recipes are much easier to follow than the Brit weighing method.
More advice: if your oven is a bit off with the temperatures, buy an oven thermometer. The first poor batch of cupcakes I made sunk :o( it was because my oven was ... Read More:

A must in every food enthusiast's kitchen. The recipes are simple and from a multicultural and multisocial part of the world. Serving a combination of dishes from the different cultures brings harmony to the table, to the eys and to the tastebuds. Very informative and easy to follow recipes. Arto shows a deep understanding of the cultures of the region. I look forward to the publication of his other books.

There are a large variety of recipes - salads, curries - and yes also waffles and pancakes . What's really nice is that the author conveys the idea that vegan cooking can also be pleasurable and decadent rather than just ordinary or earnest. This book is great to compliment the hard core raw and vegan books on the shelf. It also appeals to veggies and meat eaters. I also loved the fact that there were no pictures too...
As a trainee psychotherapist I could find the comments from the cat slightly irratating, ibid.,the punk points and the politics of hairy legged women, but it is also a strength of the book which is also a sort of autobiography told through food.
I bought this book with no reservations and I have not been disappointed! I have previously bought Vegan With A Vengeance and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World and knew that this would be as good as these are.
I have used it about once a week since I bought it (because I'm lazy and like to cook only at the weekends and freeze meals for the following week) and everthing I have made, I have enjoyed thoroughly. Even my omni boyfrind, who is the fussiest eater I have ever met, loved the anise cookins and the ice cream. I have even had requests from people at work for recipes!
I long ago got used to the idea of using cups instead of weighing scales to the point now that I prefer to use them. I would recommend if you are going ... Read More:

I received my copy of La Dolce Vegan only this morning and I love it already!
It's author Sarah Kramer has really put her heart in to it.
The recipes are simple and easy to follow and every one of them sounds delicious! I love the way the book is presented, it makes you want to
put the kettle on, sit down with a cup of tea and have a good read of it.
Sarah makes veganism very accessible, she is down to earth and talks about
veganism without sounding too opinionated or arrogant.
I would like to point out that I very rarely bother to review any of the
books I buy but this one deserves a recommendation!
I recommend Sarah Kramers "La Dolce Vegan!" to anyone interested in cooking
whether they are vegan ... Read More:

I've been vegan for just over a year now and I had started to miss things like cheesecake/cakes etc. Then I found this book! It's very easy to follow and the ingredients are all easy to get hold of. Super!

I'm quite into raw food and generally trying to live a healthy life so I have enjoyed this book - it has given me some good ideas on how to incorporate more raw food into my diet. However...quite a few recipes are way different to the food I am used to! Raw ketchup was amazingly good and the spring roll style wraps are worth making but combinations of sprouts, seaweed and bombay mix found in other recipes are rather new tastes for me!
All in all worth getting, but as someone who is 'quite' interested in raw food I need more recipes that are closer to my taste. Maybe I'll try Kate's next book....

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone going to uni in September, I have just graduated and still turn to it loads both for ideas and directions in the kitchen! The recipes are seriously tasty and I find it so good to have a picture of each one because then I know what it is supposed to turn out like...Also, the recipes are easily adaptable for different numbers of people eating.
