The recipes in this book use inexpensive ingredients, they are quick and easy to make. The only problem is that all the weights and measurements are in American, which meant that I was spending a lot of time converting to British measurements.
I collect cookery books and am also a fan of Deepak Chopra, so I had to have this book. I'm also a bit of a healthy eating fanatic, although not a vegetarian. This book has been a very welcome addition to my bookshelf. When I'm tired of the traditional approach to menu planning, Deepak provides a breath of fresh air. Using ayurvedic principles to plan meals, and to accommodate differing physical needs, this book helps keep me on track in the kitchen.

I write a food column for a little newspaper in Ohio. A man I interviewed avoided surgery and did indeed reverse his heart disease by eating a diet of less than 10% fat. He became so inspired he wrote his own book of low fat recipes!

I have just received this book for the ever efficient Amazon delivery service. The recipes are simple, the ingredients easily obtainable and most of the recipes can be made as weekday meals - when you have neither energy nor time to start cooking up a feast. I bought this book not because I am on a diet - but because I want to eat healthily and this book can certainly help. My one complaint is the layout - very old, with pencil drawing and cheap paper. However, if you ignore this, it's a great resource. I would also recommend Wills' latest top 200 low fat meals and Rose Elliott's "Fast Fresh and Fabulous" cookbook.

I am inspired by the monks' dedication to preserving the simple way of life, and challenged to find my own solitude within these recipies. My family is excited to sample new fare, and will be blessed by the healthy benefits from vegetarian monastic cooking.

Probably loved for a week by the short term attention span of the average american housewife (sorry, homemaker) this book is full of technical but ultimately usually useless jargon. The book is too focussed on the marathon/endurance athlete (so avoid if you are engaged in any other sports other than ironman tournaments) and excludes discussion of natural foodstuffs that are universally found, to labour advertising space on trendy American 'sport/food supplements', 'sports bars', 'sports drinks' and other US only fads, (sorry did i mean to say products?) Pages are devoted to complex and scientific sounding 'food formulae' (that are in sports practice rarely used) but fails to include large enough examples of non proprietary or non manufactured food groups ...
